New Kitty hanging out

She's really pretty.  Grey with black stripes, white nose, white paws,
long-ish hair and a bushy, squirrel-like tail.  She's been hanging out for a
little over a month.  Both the neighbors and us are feeding her and she's
getting increasingly less shy.  I'd love to get a picture, but we're out of
batteries, darn it!

The neighbors kind-of want to claim her, and so do we, thus, we're currently
discussing splitting a vet bill to get her fixed (she's rather young), get
her shots, and have her tested for the various kitty ailments.

She plays with Pua through the screen door; they bat at each other.  It's
really cute.  :~)

She's allowing us to pick her up now and resounding purrs erupt from her
little, fluffy body.  TFM® wants to make her a permanent member of our furry
household, but NO WAY am I taking on a 4th cat in this little house.  800
square feet isn't big enough for 3 indoor felines, let alone 4.

If we can get some new batteries this weekend, I'll post some links to pix.
She's got the cutest little face!

No way? Hmmm..... Looks to me like this little lady was sent to be your
extra special new nursecat. Remember who had 7 kitties in a 700' sq. place
before moving :)

Yep.  That's why we're kind of in a bind of just who is going to take her
over.  We want her and the neighbors, sort-of, want her.  We're willing to
take her to the vet, so IMO, it's our call.

She/He's beautiful. I was refering to the disquise in the link I provided so
you could take her in and say, "I haven't seen her", to your neighbor.

I'm confused. Didn't you just say "No WAY are we taking in a 4th cat"?

She is beautiful. And she looks extremely friendly and sweet. Somebody
should be caring for her!

You know, if she and Pua get along, then everyone would have a playmate. Pua
and New Kitty, Chloe and Tyron. They would each have their own "pack". Could
help your dynamics.

Hi Kili,

I can tell you are smitten by this cat, but if you don't have room, would
the other neighbor be able to take her in so that she will not have to hang
out on doorsteps?

It all boils down to what is best for the cat.

You're absolutely right, Annie, but my neighbors already feed 3 cats and
they leave them all outdoors.  Mine are indoors, get attention, get annual
checkups, etc.  My neighbors just feed and ignore.  It's getting cold
outside (yes, even here in Florida!) and I don't want the poor thing to
freeze.  She's really sweet.

Take her in kili!! They might like cats, but you loove cats and actually
take the time to care for them.

I remember you mentioned these neighbors to me.  It's nice they are chipping
in with feeding her but (and I already told you this) they don't really
sound like they care about their cats.

O.K., I understand now.  You hope to bring her inside.  I thought from your
message that you were thinking of leaving her outside.

Best wishes to the kitty for a new home and to you to recover from your
surgery.  I think you are a miracle lady for the progress you've already
made.

She's gorgeous Kili! But don't you think that given your current
circumstances it would be better to let her live with your neighbours?
That way somebody else is responsible for her vet bills, and you can
still have visiting rights...

You're right, I just question the ideals of my neighbors.  They had an
indoor cat, Chester, they let out and was hit by a car within a matter of
weeks.  They took him to the vet, he was fixed, but he's still an outdoor
cat.  The neighbors will disappear for a weekend and not leave food out,
etc.  I've called animal control on them before.

They seem slightly more responsible, now, but I just want this little one to
have a home.  She likes us, we like her, we're kind of going...........what
do we do?  The neighbors are willing to help get her fixed, but they're not
offering to take her in to get her fixed.  We'll do it, that part's okay.
But, this little one really needs a loving home.  She is an absolute
sweetheart.

I forgot to say... how about letting HER decide - leave your screen
door open (and your own cats safely sequestered in another room) and
see if she wants to be an indoor kitty :) She obviously likes your mob
already...

It's a Yahoo page, so as usual it doesn't work here.

(From today's BBC news it looks like Yahoo is rapidly sliding into
well-deserved oblivion; it might be a good idea to jump ship to some
more responsible and competent provider).

While I do have a Yahoo user, I am not currently signed in, and I am
able to see the pictures.  You do not have to be signed in to see the
pictures.  If you would want to download the full sized picture, then
you would need to be signed in.

She looks just like our Lucy except that Lucy has a bit more of brown
mixed into the dark parts, and the dark covers less of Lucy's legs. So,
OK, she doesn't look JUST like Lucy, but she's close.

It works fine for me here in the UK.  I was able to look at the photos.  I
don't know why you can't.  It's doubtful that there is a problem with Yahoo,
then.  Maybe it's a difficulty with your own internet provider?

Wow!   She's beautiful, a bit like a medium haired version of Boyfriend.
I'd be tempted to take her in too.
Could you manage if she turned out to be pregnant, though?  It's a real
possibility with a stray female.
Let's hope when you take her to the vets they find a spay scar, eh? ;-)
You really want to keep her, don't you?
I found that once I had two dogs, more did not make much difference.

Aww, what a sweetie. FWIW, I don't think the amount of floor space is so
important for cats as having many different levels to move about and
hang out on. If my conversion is right, my flat is only about 485 square
feet (45 square metres), and even when Frank was alive, I never got the
feeling that they felt cramped. Of course, they have their enclosure,
but that's only about 108 square feet (again, if my conversion is right,
10 square metres). When they get their zoomies, they zoom up and down
their cat trees and other furniture.

I read every post in this thread and remember seeing someone had said her

What I meant to say in reply is, those are pink toes you see in that pic,
not teats!

I thought they were nipples too on first glance before realizing that
they're toesies that came out blurry because the foot was moving. :)

She's really a cutie! Is her fur as soft as it looks?

It's a bit hard to see her tail, but it sounds like a really full, big
fluffy one. I love kitties with tails like that. I'll bet she marches
around with her tail up in the air.

Sigh; just thinking about it makes me want her too.

And what beautiful eyes she has, too! Eyeliner pre installed!

Christy,

I just read your journal. I'm glad the pain is starting to be ease up a
bit and hope your days are getting better. Trying to get back somewhere
close to normal from an operation like that is probably frustrating.
It's a good sign to see your name on the group!

I think it's amazing that another cat found you. When you feel up to it,
let us know what happened with her.

Take care,
