Thanks, Pam. I enjoy doing them, but so far I have just done everything through WordPerfect instead of getting a graphics program. What I *really* like, of course, is working with Duffy and Holly as models.

Indeed, and it went up in Dr. Chisholm's office for lots of others to enjoy, and a little PR work for Duffy (no one can believe he's blind from those pics.)

I'm using the same 0,70 Euro stamps for all cards as I didn't buy any 0,50 Euro stamps. A few overpayments of 0,20 Euros will probably not ruin me now that I'm managing only myself and the kitties, not a hubby too...

Looking at it that way, I guess the 0.40 Euros wouldn't have bankrupted me. I was just so excited that, for once, I could use the Xmas envelope the Finnish post office issues for domestic cards. ;o)

I got your card, thanks, Marina. I'm going to try and send a few out myself to the group but not many, I don't seem to have the energy lately. I will probably pick people randomly to make it fair.
As Adrian said, the cost is frightening for Brits as most of the group are in the USA/Canada/Australia or somewhere else overseas. I sent some last year and every one cost at least a dollar and a half. I'm sorry that I can't afford to send everyone a holiday card this year. For those I don't manage to get to, I wish you a lovely serene Christmas and a New Year filled with opportunities and good health.

I was rather amazed last year to see how the cost of postage mounted, and the vast majority (as you said) were to the US. I thought then that our international friends face a much larger expense if they mail to everyone on the list.

The cost of postage *is* amazing, regardless of where you live (it's just that it's more amazing some places than in others). Still, it costs nearly twice (1.75x) as much for me to mail something to friends in Canada (or Mexico) than it does for domestic US postage. Postage to Europe and most of Asia is 2.25x that of domestic US postage.

In Finland, domestic is EUR 0.50 and international is a flat rate, EUR 0.70 to everywhere in the world, so not nearly as expensive as yours. Still, sending some 50-odd cards did amount to a fair sum.

The cards I've recieved so far from the US have cost $0.84 USD about ?0.64 EUR so the price is similar. Mine cost £0.50 GBP, ?0.74 EUR, if they'd weighed more than 10 grammes then it would have been £0.72 GBP, ?1.06 EUR.

Postage for a one ounce (28 g) letter:
domestic = 39 cents (eur 0.30).
Canada or Mexico = 63 cents (eur 0.48)
Overseas = 84 cents (eur 0.64)
US domestic postage usually is cheaper than domestic postage in other countries. International rates tend to be about the same because we have to pay the other country's rate to deliver the letter. Postal rates have gone up quite a bit. I've put a 3 cent stamp on a Christmas card, but that was a long time ago, and I wasn't very old. Considering what a letter has to go through to be delivered, 39 cents isn't all that expensive.

I sent about 60 inside the US (counting my RL family too) which was US$ .39 each and only about 15 or 20 overseas / across the border which was $US .84 each. It must be much harder to have the inverse of that to pay for! $US 40.00 vs. $US 60.00 is a big difference - and that's assuming postage rates are about the same and not higher over there!
