Was the store's power on? If not, that probably necessitated closing
early. Anymore, everything is so dependent on electricity (scales, cash
registers, refrigeration, etc.) that if there's no power there's no
point in staying open because they can't check out anyone (cash
registers are just computers now). And we couldn't even call them to
find out what was wrong -- their phone system was down due to no power.
This store was totally down for 2 1/2 days because they had no power.
I have no idea why Pat's choice of grocery closed early, but power
outage might have something to do with it.

We haven't had any power outages from this storm yet.
