I've noticed sometimes when I yawn Persia will yawn, too.  Why are yawns
infectious, even among our feline friends?

TJ used to say that Dusty would get bored listening to her.

Cats are very skilled at yawning.  They can yawn with their whole
bodies.  They don't even need to open their mouths in order to yawn.
When they stretch out their front paws, that counts as a yawn.

I don't know but I can make Miranda yawn by scritching her nose for long
enough. Another way to make her yawn is to scratch some surface, like
the cat tree, or a hand under a blanket scratching the bed. She will
look and look, tilt her head this way and that, and eventually she will
do this funny fake yawn - as if she's not interested at all. Then she
will tilt her head again, listening and looking. Hehehe. Sometimes she
forgets to follow through, and the yawn just ends in the middle.

When I come home and greet Blacky - usually petting him over his head
- he often looks at me and gives me a great, big yawn. Time and again
I am asatonished, how big a cat's mouth can get then.
