A woman in the Atlanta metro area was sentenced to two years probation
for having a house fuill of 200 cats in which fifteen weren't alive

A probation officer is to weekly check the house to make sure there
ain't no animals

I saw the item in the real local newspaper--possibly it's virtually at:

Actually:

From ajc.com:

When authorities entered [woman's] home on Feb. 1, 2005, they found 146
dead cats and 26 surviving ones. She had volunteered to keep cats
temporarily for Cats in the Cradle, an organization that rescued the animals
from shelters and tried to find homes for them.
Janssen said some of the cats had been dead for six months, and had been
cannibalized by other cats. She said dead cats were found "on every single
level, in every single room" of [the woman's] house.

[The woman] had faced a potential sentence of five years in prison on the
felony count and up to 12 months in prison on each of the misdemeanor
counts.

-------------

Note from me:  I changed the woman's name to read "the woman" in brackets.
Personally, I think the cat rescue group should have been fined as well.
They shouldn't have placed that many cats with one person without followup
visits. The entire situation is sad.
