Spock, as I've mentioned before, likes to do his strolling minstrel act
around the house - wandering around and yelling out every other step.
He does it once or twice most days and sometimes he does it most of the
day (driving my Mum *nuts*!).
Yesterday he woke up (he's claimed my rocking chair) and walked the
length of the house yelling his "hello" contact call - it has a rising
inflection at the end of every meow (very Australian!). I called out
to him and he called his way to where I was working, I gave him a pat
and all was well. Later that day I heard him giving a more urgent
(more frequent) call, but it wasn't moving around the house and he
didn't stop when I called out to him, so I got up from what I was doing
to check that he was OK.
What I found made me giggle. Spock had found himself a patch of sun on
the carpet and was sprawled out with legs akimbo, upside-downy head and
just meoooowing because it felt good. He rolled over onto his back
when I appeared and invited me to rub his tummy, still yelling, but
also purring his fool head off. I think he was just practising to make
sure that I responded in within a suitable time!
silly boy!

LOL! How sweet! Miranda also wanders around meowing sometimes. Drives me
mad. It sounds so urgent, but nothing is going on with her. She's just
meowing.

How does that make *him* silly? He made you get up and come over to
rub his tummy, didn't he? heehe
Rita follows me around when I get home from work and tells me all about
her day. meow meow meow meow....Well, first I watched out the window
for awhile after the sun came up, and then I ate a little, then napped
on the couch. Then I had to carry The Bear around from the bedroom to
the living room, after taking a quick nap on the bed. After that was a
little bit of lunch, then time to curl up in my bed near the window.
Did you know that the sun didn't come out ALL DAY yesterday? Why can't
you do something about that? I miss my patch of sun......

Stinky does this a couple of times every day, too, especially a
special trip down to the basement, where he yells EXTRA LOUD. I think
he likes the acoustics. It always puzzled me until I saw a lion doing
pretty much the same thing on one of those nature programs. ;) So now
I know it's a territorial thing. It seems to be meant for invisible
cats and/or greeblings, since the only other cat here completely
ignores it. And he did it before Dante was here, too.

There's one of those in the group here, too. His name is Eli. Sometimes he
does it while I'm trying to fall asleep.
