Itchy Sabrina

Well, we've managed to pull through the recent unpleasantness. Our juice is
back on, still have trouble getting anything Usenet on the Apple. Isn't RPCA
available through Google or something? And oh yeah, we now have our phone
back, and a mountain of cleanup expenses to go with the pile of wood in the
back that used to be a venerable maple tree!

During the recent unpleasantness, Sabrina was getting rather surly and was
itching like all hell. We took off her collar and found a scabby ring around
her neck; I don't blame her for being nasty one bit, I suppose I'd be too if
I had the Rash of Evil. So we ran her into the good doctor (a gentle man, Dr.
Scott, and so sweet with The Matron that even she stopped cussing) and found
that she's got a nasty little allergy to, more than likely, fish-based chow.
Coincidentally, the stuff we got during the storm (Petsmart being closed for
several days, we shlepped over to the local grocery store and their shelves
were wearing thin) was indeed quite fishy, and that was when she started
scratching in earnest. The doctor gave her a corticosteroid and we gave her a
nice bowl of beefy goodness.

This morning she came out of her sulky hiding and was purring all over Louie.

We found out too that she's not quite as matronly as we'd thought. Her teeth
are in such excellent shape that Sabrina's estimated age is now closer to
five or six years, not the ten we originally thought. No wonder she argues
with Roxie with such gusto! Think of two sorority sisters who want to be the
lady of the house. Where those two learned that *#*&*#@$ language, I have no
idea!

Blessed be,
Baha

Why? You do not like the interface of CatKB?
Baha - 08 Nov 2006 17:58 GMT
No, nothing like that...CatKB I can get at work and home and I like it just
fine! But I have other newsgroups (mostly of comparative religious nature)
that I can't get on the Mac; I'm still learning the Apple thing. CatKB *good*!

Blessed be,
Baha

I got it. BTW you can find some other newsgroups here:

Actually if you are learning Mac you may find useful http://www.mackb.com .
It uses the same user interface and user accounts as CatKB, so you do not
need to learn new stufff or register another account.
Baha - 08 Nov 2006 19:58 GMT
You might have just saved me a good dose of my ever-escaping sanity; many
thanks! I'm so used to that &$#@*! PC that it's been a colossal pain in my
tuchas pulling anything up on the Mac. I even called both their service guys
and went to the Apple Store, and the young guys in both places had no idea
what "Usenet" refers to! I feel like such an antique.

Now if someone could look me over and make me younger like the vet did with
Sabrina!

Blessed be,
Baha

I checked it out, thanks; most of the ones I'm looking for aren't up here
though (alt.religion.mormon, soc.religion.sikhism, alt.religion.asatru, alt.
slack etc.) But maybe they'll pull in more with time.

Blessed be,
Baha

Yes, you can Google for the group. As for your maple tree, put up a
sign "free firewood".

That is great to figure out the allergy so quickly. I hope she heals
quickly.

She Must be feeling better.

That means you will have her many more years! And the potty mouth just
makes her more interesting. That sort of personality usually is. I
love reading about her. I am glad you are back with us. Purrs,

At the present time, a "free fire wood" sign in Buffalo is about as
effective as a "free sand" sign at the beach.

You can't shout down a troll.
 You have to starve them.

I'm glad to see you back.  Sabrina is such a character, I can really
relate to her.

I'm glad to hear Sabrina is feeling better.
Lots of purrs and best wishes for you and your family,

Glad that the power is back on, as of 11/-07.

I was able to find a couple of usenet readers that work on Apple.
Maybe one would work for you.

As to the maple tree, someday lets figure out a day I can come
back out and play with my chainsaw for an hour or so. I'll admit
that I don't know any folks around here who burn wood. Such is a
real shame, maple is great firewood. Maybe you two stack the wood
in your garage, and sell it in four or five years when it's dry
and seasoned? Or put in a wood stove for heat when the electric
is off?
