My brother and I went to the local RSPCA animal shelter today to look at
ferret friends for Gertie. We were introduced to a very friendly big
albino boy with red eyes called Barney, who was a bit put out at being
woken up. He was gorgeous. He was built like a brick out house, and
about twice the size of Gertie. He was also very cuddly and is
apparently very cheeky.

I've provisionally booked him, pending the outcome of a home visit by
the RSPCA to check whether I have suitable facilities for a ferret. If I
pass the home visit, he'll be neutered, and I'll be able to collect him.

As it's the RSPCA and they are not known in this area for their
efficency, and I daresay they'll see I have 5 cats and have a comment on
that too, I am not holding my breath that he'll end up living at Chez
Miles. However, some hopeful outcome purrs would be appreciated.

On another note, I am very bloody annoyed at all the fireworks. Robbie
and Cleo are shaking under the bed because the arse next door decided to
let some really big ones off over his house, and as I'm in a terrace the
fireworks came down over mine and scared the cats witless. W*nker.
They're all very p*ssed off as I've shut them in for tonight.

Purrs for a good outcome for the homecheck. I've been very lucky this year
as regards to fireworks, very few around so far and none near enough to
frighten the cats.

Purrs for Barney to come to live with you and Gertie.

Ferrets are soooo cute!  When John and I travel we always visit pet shops
and the ferrets are just so cute and friendly :)  I hope Gertie finds a
friend very soon.

We had a home visit by the RSPCA this evening.... Everything is fine and
all going well the RSPCA shelter should ring me tomorrow and I should be
able to arrange to go and pick Barney ferret up this weekend. :o) Miss
Lily Whiskers charmed the RSPCA inspector, who wanted to kidnap her even
though he is a dog man, and I warned him I have a good lawyer... ;o)

So, by Saturday, Miles family should hopefully be +1. :o)

Hehe i like ferrets, but i rarely see them since they are illegal in
the state of California.

Of course people still smuggle them in.  Once at a summer camp, i met
someone who had a pair of white ferrets.  And while i was talking to
her one of them actually UNZIPPED my backpack, disappeared inside it
and came out holding a wrapped Rice Krispy treat in his mouth and while
i watched with an open mouth, he darted back into his carrier.

But the best part was that the same ferret came out AGAIN, and
disappeared into my backpack AGAIN and this time came out with my keys.
Sheesh!

And a year ago, I asked one of the vets i worked with, "Hey Dr. C, do
you ever see ferrets?"  He suddenly looked around on the floor and
shouted, "WHERE? WHERE?"

Harhar, everyone's a comedian.........

I'd like to try owning a ferret or at least caring for one someday.  No
way would they get along with my kitties though.

LOL!  But was he saying "Whatwhatwhatwhatwhat?"  I really love that.
;)

Reminds me of a scene in the defunct sitcom, "Third Rock from the Sun"
when they were out camping.  In the heat of an argument, Harry called
Dick "Weasel!" and Dick reacted with his usual indignation (I loved
John Lithgow in that part), but Harry yelled, "No, a WEASEL!" stepping
aside to reveal a teeny little ferret.  Everybody screams and runs
away. ;)

And it was such a teeny, kyoot widdle fewwet. ;)
