For the past three months I have had siblings-in-law living here.  In
August, I got Fallon, DP's brother's girlfriend.  DP's brother Daniel
joined her two weeks later, and they lived here until they were able to
move into their new apartment on 1 October.

Three day's later, DP's youngest brother Dorian moved in here.  Unlike
Fallon, who had a job and a lease when she moved in and only needed a
place to stay and a chance to pay off some of her debts before moving
into her new home, Dorian has neither job nor apartment yet.

Since none of the inlaws has rent money, they have paid me back by
catsitting the clowder.  I went to Maine In September and Montreal in
October.  In each case, a week of boarding at the vet is the same as
half my rent, so I consider them to have "paid me back."

The thing is...Dorian hates cats.  And now he is surrounded by them.

He used to like Smokey, cause Smokey's all affectionate and cuddly like
a dog, but that changed after he had to deal with Smokey trying to
snuggle him every minute of every day, day after day.  Tyche of course,
wants him to f!ck off and die.  They get along as they mutually despise
one another.

The strangest thing has been Nocturne...while neither respect the
other's worth as a sentient being, Nox hasn't done anything bitchy to
him, and she seems to like his company and follows him around, without
doing the clingy-kitty routine she usually does in Dylan's absence
(he's been gone since the end of August and will be home at
Christmastime).  And Dorian likes her best of the cats since she's
neither irritating (smokey) hostile (tyche) or...

Yes.  Kumani.  Dorian has a laptop that he loves.  And if he doesn't
lock it in his room...kumani will sit on it in a perfect little
meatloaf.

PS.  Calling cats "shitrats" came from Mr. Lahey on Trailer Park Boys,
which I should write about...

Fallon, eh? Early to mid-20s? ie, born during the run of Dynasty? :)

Do you know why he hates cats? Is he afraid of them?

A little too much of a good thing, I guess.

Hmm, does Nox see something in Dorian that the rest of you don't see? :)
(Just kidding - but I would expect the Queen of Darkness to take a liking
to humans who might share some of her proclivities. Or maybe she likes
submissive types?)

Awww! I know that's not Dorian's reaction, though. :)

HIs parents' cat is a psycho creature who does stuff like bite your
throat open while you're sleeping.  You wake up gushing blood.
Honestly, even I don't like this cat, it's like a sociopath with fur.

I think he would be okay with just Nox, btu four cats following him
around are a bit much.  He knows to treat them with respect and does,
on account of they live here permanently and he lives here temporarily,
but sometimes it's funny to realize that for all his name-calling, the
"s***rats" bother him much more than he bothers them.

In fact, I suspect Nox will be lonely when he leaves...

Well, it sounds like they are peas in a pod!
