howdy, all.  I'm Jeff, proud property of three cats.  I've lurked here
for some time and have really enjoyed reading about and looking at
your kitty owners, and I gather you'd all be up for a little of the
same from me.  I'm not too chatty, but I imagine I'll speak up in here
now and again.

I live to serve Jimmer, Buck, and Grizzly.  Jimmer is a 10-lb,
6.5-year-old male with white-with-orange, medium-length fur.  Grizzly
is a slightly-pudgy, 8-lb (or a little more), 3.5-year-old female, a
black-and-tan DSH.  Buck is probably Grizzly's litter-mate sister, a
little calico weighing in at around 6.5 lbs.  (and Grizzly and Buck
have the most incredibly soft fur I've ever felt past kittenhood.
it's crazy.)  I wrote up a two-in-one story about how they all came to
rule my house, but it ended up being kind of long, so I figured I'd
just put it up on my web page.  you can read it at
http://web.mr-happy.com/~jfb/catstory.txt if you so choose.

and, of course, the massive photo album:
http://web.mr-happy.com/~jfb/ablum/pets/

I've enjoyed my time lurking in the group and look forward to hearing
more from you all.

cheers,
Jeff

Welcome Jeff;   I've only been here a couple of days myself, but I guess I
can still welcome  :)

I'm keyholder and kitchen staff for 5 cats, 2 are adoptees and 3 are
rescues.  Turvy is a 10 year old DSH silver tabby, grand matron of the clan.

Mischief is an ex-stray, he's a big ole' black DSH thug kitty.

Etcetera was born in an old shed on my mom's farm and her entire litter
still lives with various members of my family; she has all the look of a DSH
calico, but her face shows some signs of oriental shorthair, so she's pretty
much a mutt cat.

Rumpleteaser showed up at a co-workers farm a few months ago, she's a little
blond DMH, only cat I've ever seen that actually gets a buzz from catnip and
starts acting goofy.

And then theres Skimbleshanks, the little ginger and white hobo kitten that
rode a train into town.  Just so happens, his railway car was delivered to
our factory.  I was just leaving work and he met us at the door.

Once I get their webpage all worked out, I'll put their links in my sig and
show them off.

Awww... they're cuties! Jimmer does some of the same poses Rufous makes,
with his paws stretched out. Welcome! I look forward to getting to know
you and your kitties better.

Cheers.

Oh my Grizzly and Buck are elegant!! Those first pictures you can see their
long legs and tails. And Jimmer has really settled in! And to think people
returned him. They just didn't "get" him, did they. You have a fine crew
there! Thanks for sharing!

# Oh my Grizzly and Buck are elegant!! Those first pictures you can see their

yeah, they sure are something, aren't they?  they thank you for your
praise! <g>

of course, elegance doesn't always translate to smarts or grace.  a
couple weeks ago, we had a warm day or two, so I decided to open some
windows and air the house out a bit.  Grizzly loves to sit in a chair
at the back screen door (she gets to keep an eye on the chippies under
the deck), so I opened the back door and stepped away to get a chair
for her to sit on.  meanwhile, she came sprinting over to me and leapt
up into the windowsill on the screen door.  if you're thinking to
yourself, "hmm, I've never seen a screen door with a windowsill,"
well, neither have I, and neither has Grizzly, for that matter. <g>
so she picked herself up off the floor, got out of the way while I set
the chair in place, and *then* remembered how she watched stuff out
the back door.

# And Jimmer has really settled in! And to think people
# returned him. They just didn't "get" him, did they.

I really hope that everyone who returned him had small children or
something, because I really can't come up with any other good reason
for that.  as soon as he decided to trust me, it was pretty apparent
that he was incredibly affectionate, despite his nervousness.  dealing
with the biting problem was really just a matter of getting to know
him and what made him nervous (and letting him get to know me).  but
as they say, those people's losses are my gain.

ROTFLMAO!  And then did he lick he shoulder as if to say, "I meant to do
that!"???

There is *NO* reason for "getting rid of" a cat who's adopted you.  It's
like with children, you never know what might happen, they may be crippled,
mentally disturbed, have problem behavior - whatever, but you don't "get
rid" of a loved one just because they have problems.  You deal with the
problem, or accept what fate has handed you if there's no way of dealing
with it, and you go on.  Bandit, AKA Bit*h Cat From Hell, has always been
psychotic, bi-polar, schizo, just plain nutso.  She has left scars on my
body and she *loves* me, so you can imagine how she has terrorized other
people and animals (vets hate to see us walk in the door).  But she's mine,
I'm hers, and a few stitches are not going to change that.

Hugs,

CatNipped

I'm impressed at how well peace reigns in your feline community! Not
just the sisters, but Jimmer, too. And they're all so pretty! Oh, btw,
Grizzly is a tortie, which is similar to a calico, except the colors
are more thoroughly mixed and there's little to no white. Really nice
pictures.

Welcome to the ng!

yeah, I was pretty sure the sisters would be fine if they could get
used to staying indoors (which they have), but Jimmer was a bit of a
question mark.  the day he and Buck started play-chasing each other
was a huge relief, given all his initial unhappiness with them.  he
actually had a "sister" when he lived with my stepsisters and their
mother, but I think he was about the same in getting used to her.

thanks for clearing that up.  I had gathered that a tortoiseshell was
either a calico or something similar but hadn't gotten to nailing it
down since I didn't realise it applied to anyone in my house. <g>

Well, that was a short "later"!! ;-D  So I couldn't wait. You really
have some pages of serious "cuteness" there. After reading the story
first, I was so happy to see the freindly interaction with Jimmer. I
love a happily-ever-after ending. Grizzly looks so much like my Sheba;
except she is more barrel-shaped. I have some pictures of my cats in
various places; Yahoo groups/catslaves-under Robin the lovebug;
catslaves.org; and RPCA pictures on yahoo.

Anyway, I am owned and operated by:
Sheba, 13 going on 14 year old Tortie
Djoser, almost 12 yearold coal black panther
Robin, 2 year old Russian Blue mix lovebug.
And I am still mourning Amber,RB, Maine Coon mix who passed on in
August after giving me ten wonderful years of ruling my household.

OK, I must be having a senior moment - I thought for sure I had added my

Anyway, welcome, and may I say what beautiful kitties your owners are!
