Smokie Darling (Annie) - 31 Oct 2006 20:45 GMT I finally got some photos of Pandora (formerly Gracie) uploaded to the photo albums. Beginning with shortly after we got her, to a couple taken just today.
Take a gander at "My Stove Doesn't Work"... my favorite currently.

She does seem to have a penchant for places that usually aren't good for kitties to get into!

She got "stuck" in the cabinet/cupboard with the sucky monster, and I didn't know, took a while to figure out what the noise was. The door doesn't latch or anything, but she was so afraid of the vacuum, she couldn't even push against the door, I just heard her wailing (poor baby).
I can't always get photos of her when she's being her "let-me-see-what's-in-there" brat. Sometimes, I am just too worried about how I'm gonna get her out without scaring her, that I don't have time to realize how cute she is in where ever she is to take a pic.
She loves the dryer too, but I always check before I toss in clothes (you know, I open it, when I'm going to put the laundry in, and she jumps right up there).

She's actually good about the stove, they all are. They like to lie on the floor in front of it, when the oven is on, but don't hang around when the "top" is in use. Silly kids.

> -- > Sam, closely supervised by Mistletoe Thank you kindly (and purrs and teeth pushes from Pandy for the skritches)... Speaking of:
Do any of you have a cat that does "teeth pushing"? It's like she puts her little jaws together, then pushes forward onto your hand or arm or leg or where ever with her teeth. She can push hard enough that it hurts, but she isn't biting or nuzzling... she's got her little lips open and her teeth closed. I've never had a cat do that and it kind of freaks me out sometimes. My vet hasn't heard of it either (Pandora has always done this, since she got comfortable here).
Smokie Darling (Annie) - I know she's doing it out of affection, just wondering about other cats

I don't think it's that unusual...

Cat Five does that to me a lot, she also does that to cardboard boxes, balusters for the handrails, etc. Usually she's also purring when she does this. From what I understand, cats also have scent marking glands in their cheeks (corrections are welcome if I am misled) and she's marking me as "hers" and she also gets some "pleasure" from the rubs. I think it's cute :D

Missy climbs on my shoulder when I'm on the computer and hangs on with her barbs. Smokey, when he wants something, frequently gives an open-mouth nip (unless he's mad then it's a bite, but not hard enough to break skin)

> with her barbs. Oof, that'd be Marley (full set of claws) in my easy chair (so he doesn't fall off - lol). He weighs 15.6 pounds, and he'll get up on my shoulder. The weight is enough to make me hurt, but then he gives me Marnoculations (Marley innoculations). Just the tips of the claws, in his mucksing (sp?) - kneeding way. They don't hurt, but you know he's there.
Smokey, when he wants something, frequently gives an
> open-mouth nip (unless he's mad then it's a bite, but not hard enough to > break skin) Leonidas does that one. Smeagol, on the other hand, looks at me with his cross-eyed gaze (and the eyes never stop moving, tremor-like) and squeaks.
Why is that big cats have such little squeaky meows instead of real cat meows? All my big boys are the same (Smeagol is 18.4 pounds). Vet says he and Marley could stand to lose a pound or two, but that they are both going to stay "big boys".

Did I ever mention that when we first got her, she didn't understand English? We started to speak a little Spanish, and she came right over to us. Now she will in English too, but I've got a bi-lingual kitty (love doesn't need too much translation).

> Is it a gas stove? What is it called? > Elisabet in Sweden It's an electric stove (the heat coils are removable). The whole "top" can be lifted up (like an auto hood comes up to service the engine), to clean out the lower surface (for spills that fall through the cooking "pan" under the heating ring).
I hate gas stoves around here, because they leave an oily film on anything that is "out", you know, like dishes drying in the dish drain. The film even gets on dishes in cupboards.

I **LOOOVE** my gas stove! (OK, it's not literally mine, as I rent, but I've lived here over 7 years and it feels like mine!) And I've never noticed a greasy film on the dishes. Maybe it does leave some, but I've just never noticed it. But I really like the control you get with a gas stove. Plus, if the power goes out, I can still cook. Hey Stormin, this won't help you now, but maybe you should invest in one for the next power outage??

I just thought you meant the USA in general. And I wonder why your area would get oily film from a gas stove and mine doesn't...?

Possibly either a difference in the gas being burned, or the stove needing adjustment? Having it leave an oily residue sounds like incomplete combustion is taking place, and forming soot.

It's got something to do with the "scent" added to the local gas so that if there is a leak, you can smell it (it isn't the usual rotten eggs smell). At least that is what the Power Company says (when I used to complain at my old place w/ the gas stove here). Why they don't use the scent that is used in Denver (same company BTW) is beyond me.
Mother-in-law has gas for her range, and though she likes the gas portion (when it's off, the burners cool very fast), but she complains about having to wash her glasses every week (and her plates, platters, bowls, etc...).

I wish I could have one here, but I rent and this place came with an electric stove. We've always had a gas stove on the island (no electricity there), and it's just so much easier to cook on.
