Molly and Kayla

I'm sitting at the computer and watching the strangest goings on between
these two. Molly is a three year old calico formal feral.  She is lucky if
she's eight pounds.  She spends her days out, but the weather is getting
cooler so she is inside more now.  Longer than just to sleep and that means
entertainment.

Kayla is just one year old.  About thirty pounds of irrepressible Border
Collie.

They know they belong to the same family, that they are "related".  So there
is no fear or aggression between them.  Just very different points of view.

But they are both bored and they are trying to work out how to play
together.  Kayla is pushing her tennis ball around the floor and Molly is
swatting at it.  If Kayla can just learn to keep her oversized paws to
herself, they just may work this out yet.

How cute! And that sounds just like a border collie. They are the
*busiest* dogs I have ever been around!

So far some rules of engagement seem to have been worked out.  Molly doesn't
want to be pawed so Kayla must keep all four feet on the floor at all times.
This involves crawling around the room.  Kayla overreacts to anything that
moves, and loses it when anything moves quickly.  So Molly flows rather than
walking or running.  At least for the most part.  The rest seems to involve
pushing a tennis ball around the room with noses.

Molly will forgive chasing the ball.  She will not so quickly forgive
chasing her royal self.  She could apply for work with a bomb squad with the
way she has learned not to trigger Kayla's chasing and pouncing.

Sam refuses to make the same concession, he comes dashing into the room and
jumps up on the counter to eat then gets pissed because Kayla's nose gets
there about half a second after he does.  But I'm not so sure he doesn't do
it on purpose because she always gets yelled at.
