Rhett must have decided that he wants to be “top cat”.  Lately he’s
actually had Shamrock hissing at him.  He [Shamrock] cowers under a
table with his ears back and totally pissed or afraid, with Rhett
trying to get at him from the other side.  I’m not sure what’s been
going on at home when I’m not here, but Shamrock apparently
disapproves.  This from the previously bully-cat that attacks
everyone, including me.  I’m not sorry to see someone stand up to
Shamrock to the point that he himself feels bullied, but maybe this
is just too much (Rhett is a whole half-a-cat bigger than Shamrock).
I had to break out the equalizer (laser pointer) and get them all
playing to get their minds off of terrorizing each other.  I’m
starting to wonder if I need to separate them during the day, or just
let them work it out.  I just hate to see Shamrock hissing at Rhett,
and not understanding why.  Shamrock has it rough with his skin
problems, and his super hyper personality (taken in as a former stray
at about a year old; broken tail, serious skin flare-ups and
infection). On one hand I wonder if this will calm him down. On the
other, I wonder if it will have a really bad effect on him.

I always think a little vacation from each other eases stress overall.
You could try it and see if the situation calms down.

Purrs for peace in your home. The 'equalizer' - I like that! :o)
