I made a donation to Best Friends to help pay for the rescue of cats and dogs from Lebanon in September. One way to make a donation is to "sponsor" a specific animal. Bowie has odd coloured eyes due to trauma a kid at school hit him in the eye with a dart Heterochromia (I think that'd the right spelling) in Humans is very rare. Dave has it. One dark brown eye and one blue one! People often comment on it when they realise. My dad's reaction was that it was some sort of genetic defect! He has a birth defect and when the vet couldn't "fix" him, his people wanted to have him killed. The vet couldn't do it. Whereas I don't know where I'd be deported *to*, since I was born here. Normally I would scoff at the idea that donating to an animal rescue would make me a suspect (they're going to throw me in Guantanamo for helping a kitty??). She is beautiful! She looks just like my daughter's first cat, when she was 5. She named her Los Angeles, I have no idea why. Some interesting trivia: If the cat is solid white, there is a very good chance that she is deaf in the ear on the side of the blue eye. Some weird genetic thing. (But if she has any color spots on her at all, this doesn't hold true. It looks like she has a dab of brown on top of her head) Congratulations. My board directorship fees are due soon, and I've spent way too much money on the shelter fundraiser. But I'd love to do this too. Maybe after the 1st of the year.
