The toy box

I have a cardboard box (sort of double-wide shoebox sized, but
deeper) that cat toys are kept in, and I throw them in when I clean
and vacuum.  It sits on its side, because when I started this,
that’s how it always ended up.  ;)

It lives up against the wall next to a cat tree.  I can always tell
when Shamrock is in a particularly playful mood because he’ll pull
everything out looking for a particular toy.  So there he is amidst
a pile of discarded toys, bunny-kicking his favorite – a catnip
cigar.  ;)  When he tires of that, he’ll poke around some more to
find another toy he likes.  He’s funny with toys. He doesn’t carry
them around like Scarlett and Bonnie do.  He’ll just pull it out of
the box, play, and then leave it.  Male trait?  (ducks and runs!!!)

By the way, I just got a Dyson DC14 vaccum.  Whoa! Funny, but I
have an Oreck, and I'm amused by the TV advertizing of Oreck
against Dyson, that with an Oreck there is no messy collection cup
to empty. I have found that changing the bag of the Oreck is much
messier and dustier than emptying the collection bin in the Dyson.

Pearl does that with the toy basket!! Especially when the sun hits it
and warms up all the catnip toys, then she starts digging through
looking for something to play with. Yes, PEARL plays with toys now!!
It's sooooooo cute.

I keep Rita's toys in an extra cat bed that I picked up years ago.  She
sleeps in the one by the window, but the extra one sits in front of the
television full of toys. When she wants to play, she'll dig through
there to find something.

Ack, so cute!  I can picture her rummaging among her toys.

I wish Sarrasine would let me organised and tidy enough to do that! She
hides toys all over the place! Sometimes she'll completely forget about
a toy for ages and then when she finds it she's like "I've found a new
toy! Great"

LOL!  Well, Scarlett doesn’t believe in my idea of being tidy; she
has her own approach. She hides dozens of felt mousies under the
couch. I sweep them all out, and within a day, they’re all back
under there. Before I discovered this, I’d see her often reaching
under the couch for hours.  When I pull them out, she puts ‘em
back. Every time.  LOL

Probably not-- Dante is a big carrier.  He even tried to move
furniture.  I think of him as "the moving man." ;)

Yeah Shamrock!  He's just found his own way of upping the chaos
quotient. ;)

He’s gotten so big, I can picture him moving furniture! :)

He's not really a big cat-- he's erm, compact.  He doesn't look very
large, then you pick him up, and it's like a bowling ball.  A  wiggly,
furry bowling ball. ;)

He's a lovely character. :)

Stinky's  a big rummager, himself.  I made his favorite toy out of his
love of rummaging.  It's just a box, with crumpled up paper inside.
He can rummage through it for hours, and I can hear him in the other
room, going "rummage . . . rummage rummage rummage . . ."

Seriously, you can do a lot with this.  You can turn the box over on
its side, and pull all the paper out, then arrange it all nicely
across the floor.  Then you can gather all the paper back up again,
and shove it back into the box.  You can tip the box back rightside
up, then spend awhile very carefully fluffing the paper back up again.
And then for a grand finale, you climb into the box and flatted the
paper. ;)

BTW, woe to little bowling-ball-shaped tuxedo guys who try to get in
on the action. ;)   This is strictly a one-man show.

That sounds like a great idea. What cat could resist? I will have to
get a box and papers set up for some fun...

This sounds right up Pearl's alley too!

I love how you intuitively made him a toy based on his likes!  Now
that is a good slave if I ever heard of one.  LOL  You’re well
trained.  :)

I’d beg, borrow or steal to see a video of Stinky putting the paper
back in the box.  LOL

My gang doesn’t have a one-man show game that I know of.  I know
that with Bonnie, her love of her mousie toys isn’t shared by the
others, but she doesn’t fend them off from her kill/babies yet if
they try to interfere.  Mostly they seem a little freaked out when
she howls at them [mousies].

I love that - "rummage, rummage, rummage..."

I'd like to see updated pictures of him in his current spherical
state, please.

That does sound cute.  I didn't know that there were catnip cigars.
Are you supposed to smoke them around cats? :)
