The move is thus done, but there's a lot still to be unpacked, and
knowing me, there will be for quite some time. I also got my broadband
access via the local ISP (a subsidiary of the local phone company) -
called them yesterday (on Thursday) to order it, they asked me to bring
over the DSL modem to adjust the settings, and this morning when I
switched on the computer the connection was already up and running. Talk
about fast delivery! As opposed to about 4-6 weeks via the bigger ISP's
and generally in the greater Helsinki area. My parents have been with
this local ISP for a few years and have been very happy with them.
The kitties love the big, glassed in balcony, where I've placed a bench
and a cat-tree, from which they can observe the goings on around here.
Both Laku and Nico seem to have adjusted to the new home, no apparent
stressfullness or anything. Nico's so laid back anyway, that even the
move itself didn't stress him out, he snoozed in his carrier most of the
journey. Laku, on the other hand, seemed to provide a play-by-play
commentary on how my brother was driving, how the truck bounced and
sounded, and what he thought of being shut into the carrier for so long
a time...
There are about a thousand unread messages so I'll just offer blanket
purrs to whomever needs them. Will also try to do a lot of unpacking
until it's done, so I'll keep surfing, ng's and such to a minimum. Just
wanted to let you guys know that everything went well and all that's
left to do is "playing solitaire with the unpacking" = sorting and
finding places for everything.

It has been 42 years since I moved to this condo. It took me about six
weeks to unpack. When my aunt and uncle moved to Los Angeles many years
ago, they still had unpacked boxes ten years later. Advice: do it at
your own pace. Best wishes. MLB

Oh yes, I am doing it at my own pace. It takes time for stuff to find
their places too. and there's a lot of sorting to do, which I find
easier to do here, while unpacking and putting stuff into closets.

I'm glad the move went so well for you and your owners and very glad you got
back on line so quickly.

Thanks Adrian. I'll have to snap some pics of the kitties out on the
balcony some day when it's not raining, now that I found the camera
again. The inside of the apartment is still too messy for pics...

Last year I discovered some unpacked boxes outside in the coal house from my
move here nearly 20 years ago <blush> When I unpacked them it was "oh, so
that's where that was.."
Let me wish you a peaceful and happy life in your new home. Keep brave, you
will be fine. Been there.

WB, Christine. I'm ashamed to say this, but I still have some boxes in
the cellar waiting to be unpacked, and it's been over a year since I
moved here. In fact, there are a few boxes that I didn't unpack in the
previous place I lived. :o/ Hope you're better organised than i am.

Thank you, Marina. So apparently it's normal for ppl to not unpack
everything immediately after moving. My mom might tho, but I remember
dad telling me even they have a couple of boxes in the cellar from when
she moved to Laitila, and that's a few years back now. I'm gonna sort
stuff out at my own pace, and not just hurriedly get stuff out of boxes
and bags and "hide" it into closets.

Hehe when the roomie moved out and i cleaned out my closet i found a
whole box of Mary Kay makeup.
I was trying out the Mary Kay business when I first moved into this
apartment and I didn't know where to put it so i just shoved it into
the closet to deal with later...
That was five years ago.....ooops.....
I did check with my friend who works in the makeup industry and some of
it was salvagable.

<smile> Yep, stuff tends to be forgotten if you don't need it or have
anything to do with it anymore.
