Since her paw was *caught* in something, it *may* be sore, but it's more
than likely she just doesn't want it *caught* again, since it was a bad
experience.
For example, when Mimi was little (yes, there was a time when my butterball
was little ;) ), I was trimming her tiny little shivs (claws), and I pinched
a paw pad with the trimmers. It hurt, apparently quite a bit, as she let
out a yelp. I didn't cut her or draw blood, no major damage. But to this
day, she still does not like to have her paws touched - even if she's doing
her impression of a furry-purry paperweight on my desktop, and I tap a paw
lightly, she will move it away! It was just that bad of an experience for
her. Also, Betty: the first time *ever* she was picked up by a human, she
was scared to death (she bit me), and she still doesn't like to be picked
up - even if she's purring her little Weeble-twin head off, she looks
longingly at the bed (or whatever she was on when she got picked up), and
has a major look of relief on her face when I put her down! Sometimes, even
if she *thinks* she's going to get picked up, she will scoot away, in her
little Betty-zoom (that's what we call it).
