Okay, I've always been the one to feed the cats, take care of the cats,
etc., because I'm the one who's home.

My husband started feeding them wet food.  We figured they were old enough
now, at 2 years, let's supplement their diet, right?  He's become their
favorite person!  I pet them, take care of them all day, but DH is the one
that provides them with that little can of tasty goodness.  I don't exist
anymore!

I'm the evil slave that feeds them dry food and cleans out the boxes.  Sigh.
I feel so........ used.

Maybe you could "share" wet food feeding with DH? ;o)

I would like that!  DH thinks it's his civil duty now.  It's kind of funny.
He comes home from work and it's a meow chorus!

What if they still meow hoping for a second can?  Trust me, it's been done.

Speedy Joe (RB) pulled that stunt at a party we had. I got up the next
morning and he was doing his best starved cat impersonation so I went
to the fridge and..No cat food! Odd I KNEW there were 2 cans
there...ah-ha! Why are they in the bin and empty- I know I didn't
provide much in the way of snacks etc but surely none of my guests was
hungry enough to eat the cat food.

Later found out that one guest went into the kitchen for something and
saw the cat mewing pathetically at his bowl so thought he would feed
him.

As did the next guest who fell for the act

And the next

And the first guy when he went into the kitchen again

And the second

It only stopped when they ran out of cat food- he'd polished off 2
large cans of the stuff!

Isn't that the truth!  LOL.  I guess I treated my mom the same way.  Dang,
truth hurts!

When we first got Nocturne, I was home with her all day writing my
thesis while Dylan went to class.  I fed her kitty treats too.  Dylan
got angry one night about a month after we got her, complaining that
Nocturne loved me more.  She spent most of her time hanging around me
and ignored him a lot.

I handed him the treat bag and said that from now on, treat feeding was
entirely his job.

I was still home with her more, but he was the man with the treats and
by month 2, she was sharing her affection equally betwen us.

I think that's why I was happy, at first, to let him give the kids their
food.  I'm home all day and he's at work.  I thought it would be a good
bonding thing.  Hrumph.  Dang it.  I cursed myself.  :~)

Who do they want to cuddle at bedtime?

No one cuddles with us at bedtime, which makes me sad.  DH is a *very*
restless sleeper to the point where sometimes I can't even sleep with him!

LOL. Typical cats. Of course you're used, you're just a mere hoomin. ;-)

Ah, well, cats are fickle, Kili.  They are very self-interested.   Last time
I returned from hospital I was disturbed to find that Boyfriend was winding
round Stan's legs (my neighbour who had been feeding him.) and I have to
admit I was not a little jealous.  I was a lot jealous.
I realised it was a childish reaction ~that cat is "mine" not "yours"!!~ and
I was glad that Boyfie felt okay with Stan, really.  Well, sort of!
I know exactly how you feel.

lol, kili! I think this is why husbands/fathers make sure they buy nice
Mother's Day gifts for the kids to give to Mom - its supposed to say "Thanks
for letting me be the hero". That's at least the way it worked in our house
when I was growing up.
