Matthew - 21 Sep 2006 16:35 GMT Well it is official one year with RPCA
How times flies.
From No More Retail to NMR to Matthew aka No more Retail to Matthew aka NMR now just plain Matthew
Once thought a troll for my outspoken ways
Now you don't know what to think he he ;-)
For the friends I have made,
The purrs, prayers and hugs sent ,
For the recipes shared,
For the stories of hope and loss,
The pain, the feeling of joy, the tears which I gladly shed
I THANK YOU ONE AND ALL for this last year and the journey we have made together
I would not have had it any other way
May many more years of the journey be between all of us and the furballs we love so much
Matthew, I am cat slave and proud to serve Owned by Rumble, Phantom, Spirit, Limo, Ka' Shay, Dumplin

when you are young time means nothing but when you are retired and another birthdays ( last month) passes you take time to wonder how in the heck did you get so many candles on the cake. And how the heck I am going to blow them out :-)

And how the heck I am going > to blow them out :-) Yeah, I know :( In just over a month I'll be turning 50. That doesn't seem possible. How could I be that old, when I know I'm still young? And how could I possibly have a 24-year old college-graduate son? I'm much too young for that to be true :)

I hear ya, Dan! I just turned 52 a few days ago. But how can that be, when I had just turned 37 last year??

When I hear about someone in their fifties, I *still* think "Oh, well, she's pretty old." then I go WAIT A MINUTE!! I'm 51!! It's so weird. I am also way too young to have a 29 year old child. How did that happen? I know this doesn;t make sense, but I am a lot younger than 50-year-olds were back when I was 20.

I wonder if this is a universal feeling - that is, I wonder if 50-year-olds since time began have felt that they were much younger than the 50-year-olds they knew when they were young?
Or is this a Baby Boomer thing in particular? I still dress like I'm in my 20s. I don't mean I dress like people do in their 20s today, but I dress a lot like I did when I was in *my* 20s. I've hardly ever worn makeup and I don't wear "coordinates". :) I don't carry a purse or wear girl shoes. Basically, I don't look like most middle-aged women looked when I was a kid or young adult. On the other hand, I do look fairly average when compared to many other women my own age. You know us Boomers, we never grew up. I think we really *are* younger than 50- year-olds were when we were young!
Joyce, just turned 52

Sixty year old boomer sitting here at my computer wearing Birks, Jeans, and a T-shirt. Not how I remember Grandma at 60 certainly.
But my oldest grandson is in college so its kind of hard to argue for eternal youth.
And doesn't help to clearly remember my dad at just about my age saying to his two year younger sister "How can our kids be all grown up when we haven't got any older". Both of their birthdays were this week. Still miss them like crazy.

Still, when they were that age, 75 was a good life span. Now I think the average is something like 87. My mother is helping raise that average, since she's 94.

She was turning forty, and everyone was being miserable to her, including forcing her to have a cake, which she didn't want, and so she finally came downstairs, pretending to be resigned to the little impromptu get-together, and I swear, the cake and 40 candles all squished close on it were brought out and there was very little time to register that the candles were lit, before she whipped out a ten-inch high fire extinguisher she had been hiding behind her back and just blasted the whole cake, candles and all, to kingdom come! I'm still laughing as I write this! Hahahahahahaha!!!

On the front are a couple of guys in suits, looking very 1950-ish, staring at papers on a desk. It says, "The firm of Grump & Crotchety has determined..." (open the card) "that fire damage from your birthday cake is NOT covered in your policy." John will be 60.
Matthew, glad you joined us. Yeah, you came in like gangbusters which made some of us wonder about you ;)

But, I say "Merry and well met, Matthew". I love your stories about your cats. Happy anniversary! I don't know exactly how long I've been here. I would guess about 3 years? Maybe 4? Or longer. People here know about Persia and efen about my bird, Peaches.
I love hearing your cat tails ;)

With the blink of an eye You can disclose sadness and mourning
In next to no time there will be someone Helping you along for better or worse
Whether you are living next door Or a continent and an ocean away
No one cares About gender, age, race, religion and education
You may never meet cat or human face to face But you sure meet a friend when you need one
