Hi~~ Thank you for the wonderful replies! I went to visit Thomas this
AM. Didn't stay too long as it seemed to upset him because he wanted to
come out and wander about. He has recovered all his energy. The Vet
wants him to stay until tomorrow evening so he can be sure that he is
urinating on his own. I miss him very much. He is not much of a lap cat
as he is too heavy for me to lift [21lbs] , but almost every afternoon
while I watch my soap opera, he jumps on my lap and hides his head under
my arm. Stays for about 10mins. and then goes.
My daughter, who lives in Vermont, and is anxious to be a part
of this group, would like to know how to get into RPCA
She has a PC and 2 wonderful cats. Can anyone help? I can't as I am
WEBTV.
Thanks again for helping Thomas' recovery along with all the
purrs!!

I'm glad Thomas is doing so well.  I know you'll both be happy when he's
home.

If your daughter uses Outlook Express, tell her to look for a button along
the top that says "Newsgroups".  When she clicks on that, she'll get a
drop-down menu, listing all the newsgroups.  She can scroll down to find us,
or put "rec.pets.cats.anecdotes" in the little window at the top.  Then all
she has to do is highlight the name of the group and click on "Subscribe".

But she needs to have a service. Not many ISPS have newsgroups anymore.
I use Giganews for a small monthly fee.

I am currently using news.individual.net for most of my newsgroups.
They used to be free, but now charge 10 Euros per year for access.  At
the exchange rate when I made the payment, that came out to slightly
over $1 US per month.  I spend that much each day on Diet Cokes.  The
only limitation is that they don't carry any binary newsgroups, so you
can't get any of the groups that contain images.

I also use my ISP's news server for a handful of groups not carried by
news.individual.net.  That server goes down intermittently, and the
tech support staff is fairly clueless about USENET, so I don't want to
use it as my primary USENET source.

Wow, good news, and what a big boy!  I'm glad that they still seem to
have easy newsgroup access on WebTV.  We've had a lot of people in the
past who weren't the most computer literate, but stumbled very readily
upon newsgroups, and were wonderful contributors.  Maybe your daughter
can start off by browsing the newsgroups through Google?

Well, I think I've finally made it! I'm Hazel's daughter in Vermont and
I think I've figured this all out. If I've messed up a bit with the
posting, I'm sorry. Thanks for the replys to Hazel to help me find my
way here.
I am proudly owned by two wonderful furballs, Mr. Bojangles (12 yrs.
old) and Jekyll (5 yrs ) and my world is a much better place with them
in it. Thanks again.

You made it! Welcome to the group. I share my life with two cats,
Miranda, a Russian Blue who will be 2 years old in November (has it been
that long?) and Caliban, a brown tabby moggy who is 17 months old. We
live in Helsinki, Finland. If you are interested in seeing pictures of
them and my two previous cats, see the links in my signature.

Welcome!  You're going to love this group; lots of really nice caring people
hang out here.  I'll introduce myself by saying I have 3 cats.  Chloe &
Tyrone, brother and sister tuxedos, were born in our shed 2 years ago.  Miss
Pua, a female red point Meezer (we THINK), showed up at our door a little
over a year ago, starving to death.  Tyrone is a little devil and destroys
anything and everything in his path while Chloe stares out the window all
day in the hopes a lizard will jump on the window sill.  Pua pretty much
sleeps until she gets her zoomies and then she and Tyrone race around the
house, chasing each other.  It's always a zoo around here!

I'm glad that you found your way here.  I hope that we'll continue to
hear about Mr. Bojangles and Jekyll.

Thank you for all the Welcomes! Glad to be here. I've managed to figure
a way to get "my boys" here for anyone to see if they would like. URLs
below.(I hope as I'm still figuring things out here!)

Bo and Jekyll are quite a pair, as different as night and day. Bo I
found at a shelter 12 years ago when he was a few weeks old. He is a
totally black short hair with one white toe!  He is afraid of visitors
and hides when they come but a great mouser and use to be unrelenting
in giving up his kill. He doesn't want anything to do with the out of
doors as cars frighten him a good deal as does everything. He is also
quite needy.

Jekyll is a tuxedo short hair. He is quite outgoing. I adopted him from
our neighbor at six weeks of age and he couldn't care less about mice
and such and rather have them as friends, relishes walks on his leash
and is happy when company comes especially if they have a dog with
them! He is a ham and loves to have his picture taken. As far as Jekyll
is concerned, all of life is about HIM!

Again, thank you for the nice welcomes. I have been reading back posts
and looking at pics.

Thanks for the pictures. Jekyll reminds me of Figaro, the cat I grew up
with.

Hello! Welcome to the group, and thanks for posting pictures of your
boys. As I said in my other post, they are both pretty cats. I'm very
partial to black cats, and I must say that Bo sounds a lot like my
Licorice, personality-wise. Licky is also a scaredy-cat, runs from
visitors and has no interest whatsoever in the Big Out. But he is quite
a hunter, although there aren't any mice here, so mostly he catches
bugs. He's a needy boy but at the same time, he's a little afraid of
me, so although he loves being petted, he always keeps a bit of distance
while purring his head off. Silly creature! Except when I'm on the
computer, that is - then he'll jump onto the desk and snuggle.
