Lunch time: soup.  When I make vegetable soup any passing cat sticks
his nose in the earth - and passes.  Oxtail soup and perhaps they give a
sniff.

But chicken soup and Nanki Poo appears.

So I was drinking my chicken soup with the cat muttering things about
how slowly I was drinking it - and then the adverts came on.  Now I had
to go to the loo [restroom].  The cat said he would look after the soup.

So I picked the cat up, took him with me, and firmly locked the door
with him inside.

The cat says this shows a serious lack of trust between man and cat.

 Tough.

I'd say that you made the right decision.

Stinky passes *out*.  Veggie and herb smells reliably make him
pie-eyed.  He once fell into a bowl of mushroom-barley, poor baby.

The weekend he adopted us, Pine Cone did a nose dive into a batch of
pancake batter.  Fortunately, I had the makings for a second batch or
we'd have been picking kitten hair out of our teeth.

For those who are newbies, Pine Cone was dumped at Morrow Mountain,
North Carolina, when he was somewhere between 12 and 16 weeks old.  He
managed to fend for himself for at least a week, then discovered a van
load of suckers.  He's been with us for over three years now, is finally
over his terror of buzzy noises, and large shadows.  He still is totally
terrified of riding in the van, which we think means that the people
tossed him out the window and he is afraid that we'd do the same.  As if
we'd ever get rid of our little Piney Cone.

A lack of trust, combined with the wisdom of experience.  ;-)

OOOoooooooooooo, Imp just LOVES chicken soup.

I was sick one day and had some soup in my bedroom.  I had to get up
to refill my mug of tea and when I came back, Imp was cleaning the
bowl.

*sigh*

LOL! We've never had a cat that showed interest in our meals until Sam
came into the house. Now I am learning that you can't set a plate of
food on a coffee table and expect to have it there when you return.
That cat will eat almost anything!! Nanki Poo would probably let you eat
in peace if you give him his own bowl of chicken soup.

Aww,  I'm sure he would have left you some of *his* lunch if you asked
nicely. Maybe.

Yeah, right.  So I asked him.  He said "Mrrr, brrr" which apparently
translates into "Yeah, right".
