I have spent most of the day with Buster within arm's reach. If I'm on the computer, he's in my lap. If I kick back to read, he is on my chest, on my back or in front of my pillow. Every now and then, he'll say, "CHIRRUP?" and I'll say, "Yes, I love you, and you're home now". Then he'll say, "CHIRRUP!" with a firm tone. Last night, he slept under the blanket across my legs. Later, he crawled up under my arm and became my teddy bear. Eventually, he wanted (and got) half my pillow. Poor baby wants constant reassurance that he is back with his family. And I'm more than happy to give it. Right now, he is curled up, with his paws draped over my right arm, snoozing and lightly purring. It's so touching that he's so glad to be home. Otis has seemed to learn from these experiences and the effect has lasted a long time. I'm soooooo glad that your boy is home. Of course he does - he can't believe his good luck for having found his way back! He's obviously in kitty heaven right now, but he wants to make absolutely sure that it's real. I love a happy ending.
