Sorry all, I don't have time to read much tonight and respond.
Purrs for those in need. I start my classes tomorrow, and have
been trying to read this textbook.
Today I had to take Rhett to TED again for a sore paw. Geez, this
keeps happening! TED said another with an overactive immune system,
it seems. This weekend I had noticed him licking his back paw a
lot, and yesterday I told him that if I notice any worsening, he's
going to have to go see TED. I couldn't see anything wrong, but he
doesn't let me examine it well, either. Well, this morning he was
in the litterbox in my room and he shook his paw so violently that
he was kicking the wall. Ok, TED time. They fit me in tonight and
first thing Ms TED does is sniff his paw. LOL She reeled back and
said big mistake. Yes, he has another infection in his paw pad, and
around the claws of two of his "toes". Even the quick of two claws
were very very red. Again, I only noticed him licking two days ago.
I wish cats weren't so stoic!
He was so good at TEDs, and he let me cradle him on his back while
TED cleaned and disinfected his paw with lots of suds and warm
water. He was amazingly still. I think he somehow knew she was
helping him! This is a cat that doesn't like being held at all. She
gave him a Depo shot - there were no punctures, and given his
history, an allergic reaction to something, and (ugh) a round of
Clavimox for the infection. I was so hoping to nip the problem in
the bud before he got an infection, and I thought I caught his
problem soon enough. They truly only let us know something is wrong
when it's really bad. I feel like I've let him down and I'm always
trying to watch them and examine them during petting and playing to
make sure nothing is bothering them.

Thank you Joy. We need those purrs for the next week of Clavimox. LOL
He's almost as hard to catch as Bonnie is. I have only one trick up
my sleeve to catch him, and that's wearing thin. He loves icecubes;
loves to hear them fall on the kitchen floor, and will come running
from wherever he is when he hears them.

Poor boy! I didn't know that a cat could get an infected paw from
allergies, as opposed to a wound. Purrs that the course of meds does
it for him.

Purrs for Rhett's paw to heal quickly. Don't blame yourself, Cheryl, as
you say, cats are just too stoic. You did catch it and Rhett will be
fine, I'm sure.

Do you suppose the allergy could be caused by the chemicals in the litter?
What brand and type do you use?
Purrs that you will solve the puzzle. Best wishes. MLB

Thank you Polonca. He's doing much better. Everyone's acting weird
tonight though. I don't see any kitties in my living room tonight.
In fact, I haven't seen them for an hour. Uh, oh, going to
check.............

Poor Rhett indeed! I hope you can get him past this.

Thank you all. He seems to be doing better. He's not licking it as
much so it must be feeling better! :) I found that he does the trick
of making me think he swallowed his pill, but found it later after
one of his pillings. I always follow it up with a syringe of water,
but somehow he cheeked or tongued it like a pro. Heh. Now meowmy is
wise to *his* ways.
