Miranda's eyes

I was looking in my photo archives for a nice picture of Frank and Nikki
for my desktop, when I stumbled on this picture of Miranda, and was
reminded of a thread here a while back about cats' eyes. This picture
shows really clearly the two colours in Mir's eyes. They look very
yellow here, but they look more green in reality. The pic was in my 'May
2005' folder, so she is 5-6 months old here.

She has always been so pretty.  It almost looks like she has two
pupils.  I imagine that with kittens, the bluish part gets smaller
over time.

Incidentally, I wonder if anyone's seen eyes this dark on a cat
before:

A very beautiful, but maybe soulless cat? :)

Oh, this kitty looks really cute! I think it's just the lighting that
makes the eyes look so dark.

Joyce - really, it's not a devil cat, I'm sure it's not...

Amendment: I just watched another video on that site, "November meets
a friend". You could see her (I'm convinced November is a female) eyes
a little better in that one, and indeed, they are very black. But it's
because they're extremely dilated. You can see a rim of green around
the edges of the big, black pupils.

Of course, in that video, she's meeting another cat for the first time.
The other cat looks horrified, has flat ears, keeps licking its chops
like cats do when they're scared. So no wonder November's eyes are
dilated. But it looked like she was more or less enjoying herself on
the treadmill, so I don't know why her eyes were so big and black in
that video. She looked adorable, and very graceful, walking on the
treadmill. She even fell off gracefully!

Yes, she was very cute on the treadmill.  Vino's eyes will dialate like
that too when he gets very excited and playful.  But I thought it was
weird how November had her mouth open for a long time while running on
the treadmill.  Was she panting from exertion?

Yes, I believe she was panting. Sugar used to do that about that age
when we played ball, but I would stop when I noticed. She didn't know
when to quit!

It sounds like you're a fan!  She does look cute with her orphan Annie
stare, and is very graceful and balanced.

I went to look at that video and it made me boiling mad.  Imagine
introducing two cats by throwing one of them at the other.  Sheesh!

Yes, the other cat especially looked quite anxious.

Somehow, I never got to see the original post. THat really is so cute!
(but I did have to post a warning about treadmills). Still, my cats,
even as kittens, I believe would have given up after a minute or two!

Persia needs a treadmill!  Maybe then she wouldn't be so fluffy! ;)

Apparently, it's not just mice that like treadmills. :)

I've seen so many videos of cats on treadmills that I'm positive that
most of them love  the excerise and challenge of staying upright.
LOL

While viewing that one, I found three others that were too cute to
not share:

This battle reminds me of Rhett and Shamrock.  They can really get
into it, but as in this video, it's not "to the death" but seems like
it at times.

I've never seen it; is that the "Think in a bag"?

OK, I hope that black and white one finally got some food. Looked
awfully confused. I hope to god she is a fosterer!!!!

That's the thing everyone here keeps passing on to others because no
ones cats really likes it.

November certainly has that "runway strut".  I think the eyes appear
so dark because the light is from the back.

As I see it, the darker part is the part that covers the pupils when
they're not completely dilated - her eyes still look like that. Nikki's
eyes looked the same. I didn't know that this was how it happened, I
though the pupils themselves actually dilated and contracted, but it
looks like it's the yellow/green part that closes in over the pupil
(Nikki's eyes looked the same).

Very pretty, but they should have stopped the treadmill when she started
panting.

I think it's the lighting that makes her eyes so dark.

And now I know why they put models on a "catwalk" :)

I didn't like the video where they tried to introduce November to a friend's
cat by bringing the friend's cat over.  They don't seem to know much about
cats.

Yeah, that was really dumb, and mean by virtue of ignorance, it seems.

I'm not so sure the cat on the treadmill was panting. She might have
been meowing. If she was really so breathless and tired out, wouldn't
she have stopped jumping on the thing? Surely a cat knows when it's
had enough, and doesn't feel like running anymore. At least, mine
certainly do! I thought it looked like she was being chatty.

Lovely!  It was I who posted about not being able to get a good photo of
Persia's green & gold eyes.  They pretty much look like Mir's eyes :)
