how log do shots last?

In Massachusetts and other states drugs - presciption or OTC - are
supposed to expire in a year. Same with pet shots.

But for how long are cat shots - rabies, leukemia,, and the other(?)
lasting in fact?

The general consensus is that vaccinations will last anywhere from 1-3
years

I would talk to your local vet and see what their policy is, since
every vet is different

Most vets taht I've met go with every 3 years especially for indoor
cats since they are not exposed to thigns like leukemia and rabies.

Also cats are more likely to be prone to vaccine-sarcomas.

My cats are strictly indoor. I've been going on the annual shot plan,
for the last few years since that is how long i've owned them.

Every vet is different so my advice is to talk to them and see what
their opinion is and go from there.

I trust my vet when it comes to treating my babies for illnesses but
as for asking them about how often a cat should get shot the majority
are going to tell you a year because face it: Most of them are in
bussiness to make money so they will want you to get shots as often as
possible.

Also - check your local laws. Our state has it that dogs must get rabies
shots every *3* years (how long vaccine lass), but once a year for cats.

True, but not all vets are like that.

Sure a vet can make more money by having them come in every year, but
then they are increasing the risk that the cat will develop a vaccine
related sarcoma.

Every vet is different, and i would hope that your vet is not in the
money making business

Do you mean their shelf life or the duration of the protection they give
to the vaccinated animals?
Shelf life I have no idea, but it should be printed on the bottles. As
far as the protection goes, many vaccinations are approved for 3 years.
