A while back I posted about reclaiming my fenced-in patio so Persia and I
could enjoy sitting outside again.  The apartment manager sent someone over
earlier this week, unbeknownst to me.  I walked out to get the mail and WOW!
All the evil monkey grass is gone!  So are the shrubs, bushes or whatever
they were growing up through the middle seam of the cement slab (apparently
they poured it in two sections) and sneaking in from under the other side of
the fence.

Persia and I sat outside for a long while yesterday and the day before.  She
thoroughly enjoys watching the birds that come to my feeder ;)  I like to
sit on my covered patio swing and read while gently rocking to and fro and
also watching the birds.

This morning I bought a big jug of RoundUp and sprayed the planting areas
and also along the fence and the seam in the middle of the two slabs.  This
stuff is NOT coming back on my watch!  Persia and I are going to continue to
enjoy this weed & shrub-free patio together for a long time :)  (And in a
few weeks maybe I'll be able to plant something I *want* to see in those
planting beds!)

like catnip?

LOL  I was thinking more along the lines of some nice flowers.  Persia would
be terribly upset if I planted something that attracted other cats from all
over the neighborhood.  The woman across the street lets her cats run loose
and when one appears on the patio Persia goes nuts, yowling and trying to
get at the interloper.  She is definitely territorial and turns into a
ninja-cat instantly upon seeing one :)

I have this nice solar fountain I bought years back, still in the box:

Once I get the roots of the evil monkey grass dug up (probably over the
weekend) and apply more RoundUp just to be sure it won't come back, I'll be
setting up the fountain.  Later I'll want to plant something to grow around
it but not something tall (the fence is only a meter high) and not something
that will take over!
