I'm not asking for purrs, just good thoughts for old lady Natasha as
we move to Indianapolis this weekend.
This is her 4th move, and the others have gone ok. She was fine after
a few days of settling in. I'm hoping this one is just as uneventful
for her.
My method: Tasha has the run of the new place until the movers arrive.
Then I put her in the bathroom with her food/water/litterbox/bed/toy
while things are moved in. Once they're gone, she's completely free to
roam (in the past this has been hiding under the bed time). I hope
she likes the new place. The bedroom window has very wide ledges,
which the landlord calls "cat beds" >^.^<

Good thoughts on the way. I'll throw in a couple of purrs for good measure.

So at least you have a nice landlord. ;o) We are sending meatloaf
meditations for your move to go well and dear Tasha to accept her new
home quickly.

Good thoughts and purrs on the way for a successful move and integration
into the new home. What area of Indianapolis? We have a friend who lives in
Pittsboro. We leave the race cars with him when we're on a series of
midwest races. Perhaps when we're in the area someday we could meet.

That would be nice. :)
I'm moving to the south side, near Southport Road (exit 103 of I-65)
and Sherman Avenue.

I do have one additional suggestion: Either lock the bathroom door (which
may not be possible because most bathrooms lock only from the inside) or
post a large "do not open" sign...possibly with a picture of a cat. You
would not want the movers to inadvertently open the door when Natasha is
inside.
Good luck. I'm sure the move will go smoothly, especially since Tasha has
been through this before.

You're right about locking the bathroom door :(
Actually, I'm not too worried about the movers, but rather my niece,
who is crazy about Tasha (Tasha, OTOH, sees her coming and heads in
the other direction <g>). She's going along to "help" her daddy help
me, and I just know she's going to try to get to Tasha at the worst
possible times. OTOH, she's only 3-1/2, and there's never a good time
for things like playing with the furry critters when the movers are
present. :)

That does sound like a potential problem-in-the-making (small child, adults
busy, etc.). Check your bathroom doorknob. Some can be locked only from
the inside but have a small hole on the other side. A thin, straight object
(such as an ice pick) can be pushed through the hole to unlock the door. Of
course, you would want to check it first with the locked door in the *open*
position!

Well, at least she sounds like she'll grow to become a catslave. :)

Oh yes. And she has all these semi-feral farm kitties at her own house
to chase around. But they won't let her touch them, like Tasha will.
Sometimes. <g>

Purrs that Natasha soon settles in and loves her new home.
My cousin's daughter, also named Natasha, is due to give birth to her first
bare kitten any time now. Could I ask for good thoughts for her too?

Not that I'm all that active in the first place, but I'm going offline
now until probably sometime over the weekend.
And thanks for all the good thoughts for Natasha! :)

Back online, and Natasha and my move went very well. I'm still
unpacking though (and probably will be until the heat death of the
universe (or so it seems)), and Tasha seems to be settling in very
nicely - no problems with food/drink or litter box (yay!)
Actually, I think maybe she likes the new place very much. I haven't
caught her trying out the extra wide front window sill yet (also known
as "the cat bed" by my landlord), but today is the first really sunny
day since we moved, and I'm betting I catch her there later ^_^
She's also claimed several other places to stretch out and supervise.
And snooze when she's not supervising, of course.

Glad to hear your move went well, and that Tasha has settled in well. i
bet she finds the window sill soon.
