Miranda's half-uncle Kasper had a bump behind one ear. The vet removed the lump and they are awaiting result from a biopsy. They had to put in two stitches and Kasper has to wear a collar, though it's a very small one, just to protect his ear. My niece says that the Russian Blues that are bred in the US look very different from the ones bred in Europe, but I can't remember now what the differences were. Well I'm no breeder or expert, but they don't look that different to me: http://www.cfainc.org/breeds/profiles/russian.html And there didn't seem to be any breeders of Russian Blues in Texas. They are set very differently, on the side of the head, than European RBs. The neck also looks thicker and shorter, but maybe the cats are just sitting that way. And they keep mentioning a 'flat profile'?? Miranda's nose looks very long to me, longer than the average moggy's. Maybe profile means something else in breeder-speak. I did a search for Russian Blue breeders in the USA and some of them had websites, some had pics on CFA. Some pics showed the kitty looking sideways, showing the profile, but it didn't look that flat to me. Nothing near a Persian's flat profile. Please tell Kasper that widdle collar is nothing compared to what Oscar had to wear, so he should buck up! (We had to put a size 12 collar on Oscar to keep her away from her paw -- the smallest setting is loose on her neck, and I can only imagine it gets awfully heavy.)
