.........and the cats are not impressed.
It was an attempt to get them, Mayhem in particular, to eat some to act
as a laxative. Mayhem is prone to hairballs and that last thing i need
is a gastric obstruction. *sigh*
I did take a bit and held it in front of her nose but she didn't seem
interested. So I put a little on her nose.
She licked it as she was running away. *sigh*
I can't mix if with her dry, and i don't think she would fall for it if
i mixed it in wet.
any ideas?

Have you tried Iams Hairball kibble? It seems to work for TuTu. MLB

Maybe they just need time to get used to it? Leave some next to their
food dish.

Rusty loves his spoonful of pumpkin. I also mix it with his can food.
His vet also told me
to use fresh pinapple juice. When I buy fresh pineapple for myself, I
save the juice and
use an eye dropper to give it to Rusty. He doesn't seem to mind. I
think he likes the pumpkin
better. I read from this group that the Ontario Vet. College also uses
pineapple juice on the cats that stay there.

I don't think the amount licked off the nose is enough to help.
When I had to give canned pumpkin to Marley (RB) megacolon kitty, I
would mix a couple of spoonfuls with the gravy of his canned meal,
let it all mix up and smell like cat food, then put the actual food
in it. He ate it up until he stopped eating (when he just couldn't
poop anymore without an enema).

I would mix it with canned food -- just a small amount at first, then
gradually increase it to the amount you are trying to use.
