I can see you, Bev.
I'm having server problems and I just saw that some of my posts have
not been posted. I'm so sorry! We are purring and sending best wishes
to everyone in need.

I have the replies to testing but no other posts since then, perhaps a lot
of people are having trouble with newsgroups. I have three servers
installed at the moment including allnews.readfreenews.net,(read only)
news.motzarella.org, news2.motzarella.org(this one installed because
news.motzarella.org didn't seem to work any more) nntp.aioe.org (works
sporadically)
It's enough to make you scream. I would download a pay server but hate
giving my credit card number on the net after we were scammed in Las Vegas a
couple of years ago.
Some of my posts haven't appeared at all. grrrrrrrrrrrr

I wonder what's happening. I've just looked at the aioe server and your post
hasn't showed up there yet. It seems usenet is taking second place to the
web these days. :-(

Hi Bev,
There seem to be unusually few posts today for some reason.
I recommend you to try
http://www.talkaboutpets.com/group/rec.pets.cats.anecdotes/
I use this website as a back up when needed. A good thing is that it can be
accessed from any computer so you can use it when you travel.
It is much better organised than Google.
If you want to post from it you need to register - it is free - but that is
no big deal.
Yes, it is a good back up in my opinion.

Thanks Elisabet,
It does look like a good back-up. I need all the help that I can get,
lol.

I would still check into news. individual.net, Bev. I think they have a
payment option where you transfer the money to their bank. Although
it's a Euro account in Germany, so doing it with international funds
might cost more than the actual 10 Euros that a year's subscription
costs.
Still, I have had no problems with my credit card with them, they seem
to have a very secure site for handling it. And the best part is they
just charge another 10 Euros to it every year if I don't cancel, so it's
very seamless and I don't have to worry about my subscription running
out.

It did not cost me any more than the English equivalent of 10 euros. They
are a great server but they don't allow binaries.
I subscribed to another server to get abpa but since 7/20 no posts have
appeared. Maybe they have dropped it.
Yotta news isn't working for me either.
All the ISP's in Britain seem to be dropping Usenet. I was so annoyed with
mine for doing this I wanted to change. I can't find one that will provide
a Usenet service any more though.

Christina, if you're free to switch you could try www.pipex.com who a
couple of weeks ago still ran with the excellent Giganews or my outfit
www.greenisp.org who are with a different newsfeed firm not quite so
reliable but try hard to keep up a good service.
As a keen environmentalist I've got my boys to use a litter (often
called "woodbase") of pellets of recycled wood which breaks down into a
fluffy set of grains when wetted & is easily sieved away from the
pellets. A bit harder on the paws though. If you stay with fine clumping
litter I can confirm that making it 3 or more inches thick will keep the
clumps nearer the surface & not so prone to stick to the tray unless KFC
likes to dig a deep pit first or goes in the same place more than once.
Also I'd expect there to come a time when she can't tackle the stairs to
use the current box & will need one on the ground floor too. Then you'll
have done everything in your power to preserve the dignity of a fine old
lady.

You may check out
www.disputo.net
It's a german newsgroup server. They claim to carry all newsgroups
(haven't checked that ;-) ) and they carry binaries.
Costs for smallest account are EUR 9,00/month incl. 10 GByte download.
Secure payment and IP address masking. Servers in the USA as well.
Unfortunately it is all german so far, they haven't set up an
international page yet (homepage tells: "international version coming
soon"). But if you want to give it a try, I will help.
Use it since january 2006 and had no troubles so far.
Squarely Yours
