Almost four weeks ago our doggy, Sandy, was euthanized. Two weeks
later our snake, Li'l Critter, died. Yesterday we took our kitty,
Speckles, to the vet as she hadn't eaten well for a couple of days.
After sonograms, blood tests, etc., the news was that her kidneys were
shot, badly misshapen, with lumps outside and masses inside,
indicating cancer. A double whammy with kidneys not functioning,
spurring on the cancer, and the cancer destroying the kidneys.
This was a shock since she'd been given a clean bill-of-health for
kidneys about six weeks ago. Over the last 10 months, our little
survivor has been through stomach (hairball) surgery, heart murmur,
hyperthyroidism, stomach weakness (vomiting spells), and
what-have-you. She's a fighter but this time....
The vet let us bring her home for a couple of days and she's been
eating chicken baby food, the only thing she'll touch. For some odd
reason, I doubt the cancer diagnosis. The kidney failure I can't
argue with.

That's so sad. Vets can't always tell what's going on - both of mine had
had a clean bill of health a couple months before I noticed Betsy's lump
that turned out to be aggressive and terminal cancer. Sometimes the
condition just isn't advanced enough to be noticed earlier, or comes on
quickly.
Purrs for you and her both.

I'm so sorry for you. We too lost a kitty suddenly (stomach cancer). Just
6 months before was checked over carefully before dental surgery, because
he was 13, and declared to be completely healthy. I guess some cancers come
on very quickly.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope she perks up a little bit with the baby
food. As long as she eats something, I think there's a little hope. Purrs

What a terrible sequence of events, Jeanne! Many purrs for Speckles. I

Poor little Speckles. I have a bad-button about renal failure-- it's

Here's hoping little Speckles enjoys every day. Sometime I wish the
furry ones weren't so good at hiding their health problems; the nasty
stuff like kidney failure couldn't work half the damage it does if only
it were easier to find earlier.
I'm really sorry to hear about your snake and dog too. Sad times.

If she's had a sonogram and there are masses there it is true. I am very
sorry to hear this.
I wanted to argue with with my diagnosis on sonogram and CT scan but it was
still true. I did have cancer whether I liked it or not.
