I've mentioned before that Molly is very seldom affectionate with us. I
think she has maybe jumped up on my lap twice. Don't know if she has ever
jumped up on Charlie. And he is the ultimate cat whisperer.
Last night my oldest, Vicki stopped by for a visit. Now our cats have
always liked her better than they like us. Likely to do with nice long
acrylic nails, nice perfume, and absolute confidence in handling cats.
Molly promptly jumped into her lap for scritches. After a while we are
discussing the abandoned animals across the street and grandson Steven
mentions that when he saw the kittens a few weeks ago they were just covered
with fleas. At that point we all think we are itching. Then a flea jumps
from Molly to Vicki. Vicki catches it a crushes it.
I'm especially concerned as Molly has been hanging out with the homeless
rabbits though she did have her Advantage a couple of days before, so Vicki
scruffs her and flips her over to check for flea dirt and more fleas. Molly
was clean, but decided that laying on her back on Vicki's lap while scruffed
was perfectly nice. So she stayed there for tummy scritches till Vicki
left. Purring to beat the band,
About the only thing Molly did to be nice to me was to stay on the sofa
after Vicki left. Usually she hops down and goes off to do her own thing so
fast it insulting.
(But she still sleeps on my feet if none of the boys are here)

I've never quite understood why they choose to bond with a person who
doesn't feed them, look after them or change their litter when the person
who does all those things is more than willing to do that and provide all
the affection they want, but thats cats for you. If they were predicatbale,t
hey'd be dogs :-)
Purrs that Molly doesn't get more fleas,

Yeah, no kidding. With all I do for them, Imp rarely comes to me for
scritches. He hardly jumps on my bed, runs away if i come near him.
But he'll let my roomie pick him up, and jump on her bed and even put
his paws up on her knee when she's seated at her desk. If he's really
hard up for scritches he'll come to me, but only if i'm seated at my
desk.
*sigh* I'm hoping he'll be more affectionate when the roomie moves
out.
