AND ALL OF HIS ANCESTORS TOO!!
I'm sorry, ya'll are the only ones that could understand the frustration I'm
feeling right now.
Barnabus is unwell. He's been sneezing and rubbing his face with his paw.
Now his eye is watering and I suspect a blocked tear duct which he's had
before.
I took off work early to take him to the vet. I got the carrier ready this
morning because I knew everyone would disappear if they saw me with the
carrier. I was able to pick him up, put him in the carrier and suddenly he
became as slippery as an eel. He slipped out and ran.
I closed the bedroom door so he's now limited to the hallway, family room,
dining room and kitchen. My plan was to corner him in the hallway. I had to
flush him from the area behind the couch where the cat trees are. So far so
good...he took off to the hallway. I turned to chase him, tripped on
something...what did I trip on?!? Fell and hit my head on the corner of the
entertainment center. Now I have blood gushing from my head. I get up,
hurry to the bathroom for a towel to put pressure on the cut and realize my
cell phone is in my purse which is in my truck because I wasn't planning to
be here long. I went out and got the cell phone, decided to call DH and
tell him to come home since I hadn't passed out yet and probably didn't need
to call 911. I came inside and as I was calling DH, saw a flash of black
run past me down the hallway and I haven't seen him since. I got the
bleeding under control decided I was all right to continue to the vet but I
can't find Barnabus anywhere! I have searched all over the place. It doesn't
help that he's a black cat. I'm terrified that he might have run into the
garage when I walked out but I swear I remember seeing him while I was
talking to DH, inside. Where do they hide? I can't take another afternoon
off from work so I can't get him to he vet until Saturday morning and I've
got a headache that hurts soo badly.
Barnabus is my baby! Please send purrs that he'll come out of hiding and
forgive me and love me again.

Damn!! That sounds like a very un-fun afternoon. You needed that like a
hole in the head. (Sorry. :)) Hope that by the time you see this post,
you will have found the little brat and gotten him to the vet. In the
meantime, I can hardly blame you for the thumb-suck and cry.

Julie,
I hope you find Barnabus and that your head is better. I hope you didn't
need stitches.
It's amazing how slippery those cats can be and how invisible they can
become.

Purrs for Barnabus to show himself. I'm sure he's loved you the whole
time, and he will forgive you quickly. And purrs for your sanity.

Yikes, Julie, what an ordeal! That's the last thing you needed. I hope
your head heals ASAP and you manage to get Barnabus to the vet somehow.

Ouch! Poor Julie. Sorry to hear Little B is choosing to be such a

sounded like you needed TED a lot more than he did!

Purrs that Barnabus has come out by now. Or rather, Caliban sends purrs,
while Miranda cheers Barnabus on. I suspect his disappearance might have
something to do with a teleporter and a smug little Miranda. Purrs also
that your head is alright. Please check in soon or we will worry about you.

I don't blame you, I'd go off and suck my thumb and cry for a while too.
Purrs and healing wishes for your poor head. I hope that you're back to
normal by now. I'm late as usual. Purrs and get thee to TED thoughts for
Barnabus from us all here. Please post and let us all know how you and
BarnaBUTT are doing.

Oh Julie! Lots of purrs coming your way, for Barnabus and your head. That
has got to be one of the worst b*st*rd cat tricks I've read here.

Well, we didn't make it to the vet yesterday. I searched high and low for
that silly cat. I turned the couch, the love seat and the recliner upside
down, I pulled the 56" television out and looked behind the entertainment
center. I rattled the treadmill in case he'd flattened himself and snuck
under there. Marina has the only explanation I can think of...he teleported
to her house and hid with Miranda. He wasn't very smart about that though,
he should have left a clone to go see TED because he *is* going to see TED!
He reappeared as soon as it was too late to go to TED before they closed and
I had sat down with an ice pack. He knew, too, because he came up on the
back of the couch and gave me a headbutt. Silly cat!
So we're sitting here and he's now on the arm of the loveseat beside me when
I realize I still have some eye drops from the last time he had this
problem. I got up and went into the kitchen, got a glass of water and took
the drops out of the refrigerator. Expiration date, 07/2007, this will work.
I shook them up, walked into the family room and he looked at me and took
off running. Now exactly how did he know what I was going to do?!?
Eventually he came back and I scruffed him and gave him the eye drops.
Hopefully this will help until I can get to the vet.
As for me, I'm alright. I have a super headache today but otherwise I'm
fine. One of my greatest fears is falling and hitting my head on something
when I'm alone. I'm not sure if this experience is going to make that fear
any less or not. I realize how lucky I was that a) I didn't hit harder than
I did, b) I didn't pitch into the glass fronted bookcases or c) I didn't
pitch into the television. The entertainment center is about 8' tall with
open bookcases on each end then narrow media storage beside that and glass
fronted shelving on either side of the television. I hit the corner between
the open bookcase and the media storage, a basic 90 degree corner.
Thank you all for your purrs, Barnabus is a forgiving cat and he's still
Mamma's boy (and Miranda's winkwink). He is such a sweet cat. He follows me
everywhere and sits right beside me in the evenings. Then when we go to bed
he still comes to me and kneads and purrs, getting right up into my face so
he can breath the same air I'm breathing. Then just as I'm about to fall
asleep he'll move down beside my legs and curl up and sleep. Almost nightly
I end up half on my stomach and half on my side with one leg straight and
the other foot on the knee of the straight leg - forming a triangle - or a
Barnabus nest. I wake up and he's asleep in the triangle formed between my
legs and my body. Ummm, I suppose it's a warm place to sleep - no, we won't
go there, blame it on the hit on my head :)
Thanks again, everyone. I appreciate the purrs and I will get Barnabus to
TED and we'll get the eye checked out and probably some pink stuff and more
eye drops. Oh joy!

I was very glad to see this post, when you didn't post any more yesterday I
started to worry. Continued purrs for Barnabus, I hope the next attempt to
get him to TED is a little easier.;-)

Glad to hear you are alright, and that Barnabus is still Mama's boy. He
has so much in common with Miranda; the ability to disappear completely,
sleeping in that warm place (one of Miranda's favourites, too!) and just
generally being sweethearts when they're not doing a b*st*rd cat trick.
We hope that Barnabus' eyes heal soon, and Miranda says he can come and
hide out any time he wants (like when Meowmie wants to give him the pink
stuff). Err, scratch that. <glare at Miranda>

Glad to hear you are O.K. I once fainted and fell on the kitchen floor.
Didn't hit the corner
of my kitchen table. Didn't even know how long I was out. Since then I
have followed my
doctor's advice to minimize standing up when I don't feel well.
I also fell once while trying to catch Rusty and ended with a bruised
knee. Now I lock him
in his room when I get ready to take him to see TED.
