I'm bored, and i've had a bit to drink, even though i swore to give up
drinking on Sunday night.

oh well......

Part V

*********************

The sun rose over the horizon on the pirate camp.  The rays glistened
on the morning dew and Cap'n Pine Cone streeeeeeeeeeeetched as he
emerged from his tent.  He took in a deep breath of the morning air.
He looked over at Huey who was standing ready in front of a large bugle
on a tripod.  Cap'n Pine Cone nodded, and Huey took a deep breath.

The bugle call blew loud and clear over the camp.  Seemingly quiet
tents suddenly shook as sleeping cats were jolted from their slumber.

"PREEEEEEE- - - - - - - SENT FORMATION!!!!!!"  Shouted Sgt. Huey.  Cats
shot out of their tents and barely skimmed the sand running.  Captain
and Stanley who had fallen asleep on the sand the previous night defied
gravity and ran around in circles until they realized everyone else was
running into formation.  Caliban, Dante and Qui Gon flew out of their
tent and almost tripped over each other.  But fortunately they righted
themselves and made it to formation in time.  Captain and Stanley
noticed they were damp with dew and sand and quickly tried to wash
themselves.  A few licks resulted in sand on their tongues and they
sputtered and spat, but suddenly straightened up as Cap'n Pine Cone
came into view.

"Good morning, crew."  said Cap'n Pine Cone.  "I trust everyone has
recovered from Persia's fish stew?"  Huey stifled a laugh and some of
the crew grimaced.  Persia, however, had a grin from ear to ear.
"Today at noon,"  continued Cap'n Pine Cone.  "We will be mounting an
exploration to the top of Mt. Wannahockafurball.  It will be a very
tough expedition and only the toughest cats will be privileged to go
along."  A few of the kittens suddenly stood up straighter, hoping that
they would be picked.

"Sgt. Huey will announce the expedition crew in the new few hours."
The kittens drooped.  "But he will only be choosing the cats that are
MOST fit and the MOST brave to withstand the trip."  The kittens
immediately stood up again.

"Meanwhile, Persia will be needing a crew to hunt for clams and
oysters.  The trip to Mt. Wannahockafurball will be most tiring and
will take all day, so everyone on the trip will have a most hearty
appetite when we come back.  So we will need a good and hearty crew to
help prepare a good meal for us.  I'm told that clam and oyster hunting
involves WATER," A few of the cats winced.  "And that will require a
great deal of skill and bravery and will require the TOP cats.  Sgt.
Huey and Persia will also be choosing that crew.  Everyone else will be
allowed to go on their own shore leave, within view of the camp, under
the supervision of Tanada.  Sgt. Huey?"  he turned and walked back to
his tent.

"COMPANYYYYYYY....DISMISSED!!!!"  Shouted Sgt. Huey.  Everyone
scattered and a few of the kittens grouped together.  Qui Gon walked up
to Lily Whiskers who was washing her face.

"I hope we can go on the trip together, Miss Lily."  he said.

"That would be wonderful," she said.  'But I'd also like to go clam and
oyster hunting.  Either way, I'd have a lot of fun."

"Erm, Miss Lily?"  said Qui Gon.  "You missed a spot. May I?"  Lily
smiled and giggled a little bit and allowed Qui Gon to lick behind her
ears.

"I hope they pick ME!"  said Barney.  "Oh, right, after you jumped into
the tree after that 'snake'?"  said Caliban.  "So what?"  shouted
Barney jumping on him.  "YOU were the one teasing me!  What makes you
think he'd pick a screwball like YOU!"  The other kittens laughed as
Barney and Caliban wrestled.

Sgt. Huey chuckled as he watched the kittens.  Then he peeked into
Cap'n Pine Cone's tent.  "You wanted to see me, sir?"

"Yes, Huey."  said Cap'n Pine Cone.  "Any ideas as to which kittens we
should choose for the trip?"

"Well, Barney, Bam Bam and Tessie are the youngest.  They might have a
bit of trouble behaving but we easily could put an older cat in charge
to keep them in line.  Perhaps, Sammy?  Definitely Samwise, Lacey,
Mistletoe, Oscar and Sir Weebly Wobblebottom.  Oh and possibly Miranda
and Barnabus, too.  Mischief and Mayhem would probably be interested
but not Imp.  He'd be more willing to stay behind and nap in a tree.
Caliban, Dante, Captain and Stanley would all be willing to go, but
they could be trouble.  I don't know if i could keep an eye on all four
of them.  And I don't think we could get Qui Gon without bringing Lily
Whiskers too."

"Quite a conundrum, isn't it?  Trying to decide which cat goes, and who
stays."

"Well, the trip won't be easy.  Not just any cat could make it."  said
Sgt. Huey.

"Well then," said Cap'n Pine Cone.  "We have quite the decision to
make, don't we?"

A very nice installation, Kristi!  I had to read Mt. Wannahockafurball a few
times before my brain translated it and I started giggling :)

It's origin is from Finding Nemo.  The mountain in the fish tank was
Mt. Wannahockalugie, and it took me a while to figure that out too

It was gonna be Wannahockafurball or Wannahorkahairball.  hehehe

I've never seen those vids but I have to say, now we have to figure out a
way for Persia to csteam the oysters and clams... hmmm   Her hooomin would
have a steamer basket but I'm thinking they can be steamed in fronds from
those coconut trees IF we can get some brave kits to climb and pull them
down!  As for steaming them... well we must have some of the coconut juice
and fire (watch out, kitties!)... I'm still pondering this one.  How do cats
make fire?

How do cats make fire?

I see them bapping two rocks together.  Either that or having access to
one of those gas fire place lighters where you push the button and
flame comes out

hehee

Fire?  No problem.  Kitty Farmcat just needs to breathe on the sticks ;-)

What?  No one has voted?  Oh no!  How will I ever decide who gets to
climb Mt. Wannahockafurball?

What'll I DO???

Sorry, I'm not going to call overseas. ;o)

I think Miranda would be a good asset on the trip, since she is a very
good climber and very agile in every way. She also likes to be high up.
But she would like Barnabus to come too, though that may distract her
somewhat from the matter at hand.

Caliban would love to come, but I don't know how useful he would be. He
could make the trip 'interesting' though. ;o)

I am envisioning cat climbing harnesses in which several of the cats
are connected.  Or small groups connected.

I can picture one cat slipping and falling, pulling the other two with
him.  Down a short fall of course.

hmmmmm

They always land on their feet, so a short fall and some cuddling would be
in order :)

Barnabus says that hopes he is assigned with Miranda and that he enjoys
climbing as well.  He's asked that I (re)post a picture of him as
evidence that he is a good climber (two photos)I adjusted the
brightness/contrast/intensity so that you can see where he is:

or

It seems a good time to tell the story of why those curtain rods are no
longer there.

Barnabus is nothing if not enthusiastic about life and even more
enthusiastic about teleporting to see Miranda.  He apparently decided
the best way to get to her is by leaping into the void between our house
and Miranda's.  So, he would start with a good, strong session of
zoomies - running throughout the house and leaping on furniture and
other cats and then running as fast as he could in the opposite
direction.  Then he would start at the back of the house and come flying
down the hallway, leap onto the lowest of the cat trees, barely touching
it (the one Lacey is sitting on in the photo), bounce off the second,
taller cat tree which you can't see to the right of the photo and then
land on the 1" wooden curtain dowel with his front paws on the window sill.

The two windows you in this photo are actually a set of four with two
curtain rods that have the scarfs surrounding each set of two.  He would
walk back and forth between the two curtain rods and look out the four
upper windows.  One day I came home from work to find one end of the
curtain rod on the right laying on the ground and the other end propped
up against the cat tree.  When he jumped up there he had actually pulled
the curtain rod hanger out of the wall and the rod had fallen.  We
decided it would be safer for him if we took the curtain rods down. So
now I don't have the scarves that make the windows look so nice - just
the panels inside each of the lower windows.  Oh well, I have a safe cat
and that's more important.

So Barnabus said that he would be happy to climb Mt. Wannahockafurball
with Miranda and will be happy to help Caliban find all kinds of
interesting trouble to get int....errr, keep an eye on Caliban if he is
chosen to go along.

Miranda and Barnabus are certainly a well-matched pair, since Miranda
loved climbing curtains so much that I didn't even bother to put up any
curtains in my new flat after I moved. I have blinds here. In my old
flat, I would constantly be picking up and rehanging the curtains that
she had dragged down from the (#%&#! stupid) little clips that they were
fastened with.

Of course, there is also what she did to the shower curtain:
http://community.webshots.com/photo/353761746/1378123537058511339npdOXz
I now have a shower stall and no curtain. She must be so frustrated with
me! But I think I've provided her with lots of climbing opportunities;
two cat trees, a climbing panel, and the pole in the enclosure. She
still sometimes climbs the sauna wall, just for the h*** of it.

LOL! I haven't caught any of mine in that position, but I only have a
shower curtain rod, not the square thingie. I have caught Rhett on
the top of an open door, though.

Persia can't go!  She has to help pick who is gonna hunt for clams and
oysters... and the tide going out is critical to this mission.  Otherwise
there will be no clams or oysters for dinner at camp!
