PELHAM — Willy the cat steals gardening gloves.

He sneaks into back yards and has deposited more than two dozen on owner
Jennifer Pifer's front porch since spring.

"This all started about the time people began working in their gardens, I
guess March or April," Pifer said. "There was just more and more."

Sounds like a pretty easy specialty.  I know I tend to take my gloves off
and throw them on the ground when I quit.  An observant cat would have a
field day.

That and the bin the gloves go in is pretty open and they usually need to
dry out after they've been used.

The freakiness of cats never ceases to amaze me.

It's like how Nocturne will only start doing bad things when we
/return/ from a long absense.  She's good while we're gone, and when we
get BACK she starts knocking over the lamps, eating the cactuses and
otherwise being nasty.  She wants us to KNOW she's doing it on purpose
to punish us!

I still can't quite believe she ate a cactus!

It was a really spiny one, too.  That didn't seem to bother her,
neither, erm, going in nor coming out.

She's hardcore.

--Fil

Who notes, however, that Nox has not eaten one since.  Her latest
b!stard cat trick involves snubbing the person who has snubbed her, ie
refusing to be in the room with them, etc.  even sleeping on dylan's
head, she will put her BACK to his head, not her tummy, when it is the
day after he has left her alone overnight.  And she'll go out of her
way to point her arse at his face.

Frank used to chew on a cactus I had. Eventually, I had to throw out the
cactus because he had demolished most of it.

I saw the story in a local paper. It goes on the say that in the winter he
will take socks from her owners laundry and carry them around the house.

LOL! Love the sign above him saying, 'Our [picture of cat] is a [picture
of glove] snatcher...' Can't make out what the rest says; 'please take
yours'?

I put up an artificially sharpened picture that's easier to read. :)

Thanks, Tak! Hehe. Just look at those paws. They are so ready to be put
on something that doesn't belong to him.

Oh, he's a character!

"In winter, when gardening gloves are hard to find, Willy switches to
his offseason prey, dirty socks, which he brings from the laundry
room."

"Despite his criminal nature, neighbors get a kick out of Willy.
Cassone said the cat likes to accompany the mailman up and down the
block, all the way to each front door. Willy also likes to climb trees
and bat at the heads of people below."

He does sound like he would fit right in with the cats you hear about
on this group. :)

He's adorable. Still looks kittenish, or like a gangly adolescent.
And what a personality! I would've expected him to be a Burmese, or
some other breed with pronounced quirks and habits. But he's an
ordinary moggie.

It's nice to hear that the neighbors take it in stride.
