I think Smokeys exist to get slapped around...our Smokey-poke is a tom
and he is Nocturne's punching bag. He keeps trying to lick her and
getting smacked upside the head by a black paw for even attempting.

Smoke is not the brightest bulb, but she does have her moments.
We were having the fireplace cleaned today and curiosity got the better of
Smokey. She's not usually big on strangers, but they were taking her heat
machine apart. So she was sitting back a safe distance and watching the
proceedings. The young helper had noticed her and reached to turn on the
vacuum. He must know a little about cats, as he turned around again with a
grin on his face expecting Smokey to be gone. But Smokey was giving him the
'airplane ears' to block out the noise and still watching intently. Now
Smokey is normally fairly aerodynamic (pointy little head), but she really
looked like she was fighting a strong headwind.
