Hi there:

My sister was over dropping something off at our back door when we were not
home.  Otis was minding his own business in his fenced backyard and napping
on his six foot tall cat tower which we have placed under the overhang for
shade.  Because Otis was so high up and the dog was calm, my sister allowed
Arwen to get a little closer with her sniffing.  For lots of reasons, that
was not a good idea, not the least of which is why stress the cat if its not
necessary.   But anyway.

In a split second, Otis launched himself from the top of the tree onto Arwen
and attacked her with claws out.  Karen said that there was fur flying off
Arwen everywhere.  He didn't get her nose and Arwen has such thick fur that
she wasn't injured.  Arwen was so overwhelmed by this that she beat a hasty
retreat and asked to leave immediately.  Otis was completely unscathed.

I can't fathom why either:
a) my sister allowing the dog to get that close  or
b) Otis attacking a fairly large dog
... were good ideas.

What was he thinking?  He is wildly territorial I guess - and lacking in
judgement.  Maybe his cat sense could tell she would easily cowed?
