I was woke up at about 6:30 yesterday by a thump sound. I looked over
and, no Rob. He'd fallen out of bed, hitting his head on a corner table
that we use as a night stand. I couldn't wake him up at first, but
finally got him to respond to me. Then he couldn't get up for a while.
By this time, I was starting a shower, waking Mike and Jim up to help
convince Rob to go to the hospital ER, and thanking Bast that we'd
finally gotten our errant car battery replaced on Wednesday.
It took a half hour to convince him to go to the ER, another fifteen
minutes to convince him that he couldn't go in his underwear, and then
about ten minutes to get him into street clothing. (can you see where
I'm going with this? I knew you could)
Then he threw up. Multiple times. He refused to go by ambulance, so I
finally convinced him to let me drive him. At least I was able to grab
a shower while the boys talked to him. We finally got to the hospital
around 8 am and I had to explain the reason for the delay. Well, Rob
went stubborn on the ER staff, so they kinda understand what I was
dealing with. Finally, by 9 am he was in the ER exam cubicle. I
jollied him into behaving with the help of the ER staff at Womack
(military hospital) They took C-T scans, blood tests, urine tests, and
so forth.
Results? Rob knocked himself silly falling out of bed and gave himself
a mild concussion. We got home around 4:30 yesterday afternoon (I was
going to go grocery shopping anyway, and having a captive Rob made
things easier). Turns out that we were at the hospital from 8 am to
3:30 pm. I have further teasing rights, and Rob is on a bland diet
until tonight. I told him that I'm going to insist on a hospital bed if
he keeps it up.

You have an "interesting" life, and an interesting way of telling about it.

Wow! What an ordeal. Aren't men the worst when it comes to doctors?
I'm glad it looks like he will be okay.

My sympathy to both of you. A concussion is no fun (I've had one), and an
injured, uncooperative husband is even less fun.
An extra hug for you.

Whew! That must have been a high anxiety day until you found out what
had happened. It must seem bizarre when someone who has a major illness,
who could have a medical crisis from that at any time, has an ordinary
accident like anyone else.
Teasing rights are very important - be sure to take full advantage. :)

Or how about this one, depending on how many cats are on the bed:
There were <X> in the bed
And the little one said
"Roll over, roll over"
So they all rolled over and one fell out
There were <X-1> in the bed
And the little one said...
I'm glad it was nothing terrible!
Purrs for your nerves,

What a roller coaster of a day. But all are home and groceries bought.
Charlie thrashes in his sleep and has fallen out of bed a couple of times.
I cannot even think about how exhausting all this is. You do seem to have a
pretty good grip on dealing with life as if comes. But I'm thinking you
don't have a lot of choice in the matter either.
And hopefully a lot of testing got over and done with and won't be needed
again for a while. Medical appointments have to be exhausting. For all of
you.
Get somebody to feed the cats and clean of the litter boxes. Curl up in a
corner for a while if you need to.
(For reference, when you just cannot worry about diabetic food, a McD double
cheeseburger with no catsup and don't eat the bun or at least throw away the
top half of the bun is low carb fast food. )

Pam,
I was just going to email you, but decided to check RPCA first. I hope Rob
will be O.K.
Rosie and Cinder are revving up the purrs for both of you.
Internet service here is spotty. I'll try to get that email out to you.

Thanks Annie,
Rob is doing fine. I ended back at the ER today because Mandy gave Huey
a flea bath, and he took exception to it. She's on a course of
antibiotics and so forth for the next ten days. Some of the same staff
were at the ER and asked how Rob is doing. I suspect the cute medic
that treated Mandy thinks that I secretly injure my family and pass it
off onto other causes. Mandy is fine now, and Huey has forgiven her for
his undignified trip to the tub. The rest get bathed tomorrow. Jim is
planning on using his welding gloves to hold them with.

I went through a period of a couple of months when our children were young
and Jim, of course, was away, when the ER people got to know me and our kids
by name. I suppose these days they might call child protective services if
you show up with too many odd injuries.
We are good friends with one couple who went to the ER because she had
fallen down the basement stairs and got a nasty black eye. She said the
medics kept asking her questions that seem to imply that her husband did it
and she was protecting him. But, knowing them, I would not hesitate to
believe that she fell down the stairs all by herself.
We've got the kitties purring for Mandy, but they did express some sympathy
for Huey. Cinder hisses and growls when we put Revolution drops between her
shoulder blades. I can't imagine having to give her a bath.
I hope the rest of the gang is more cooperative for your Jim and his welding
gloves.

Thanks, Mike and Jim finished with Sonya and Qui Gun Kit this afternoon.
While I'm one of those, this task sucks so let's get it over with type
people; Mike, Jim, and Mandy scheduled doing two cats a day, but took
Huey out of turn, because I insisted as Huey isn't ordinarily a grumpy
sort. I think Mandy has convinced herself that it is my fault that she
got bit. The cats already believed it. Sonya keeps coming to me for
comfort with a "why did you let them do this to me" look. Qui Gun Kit
still, even after being dried off, looks like a drowned rat. He's very
disgruntled.
