There was a tapeworm segment (still alive) in Eli's (black) fur, so it was
easy to see. So the whole clowder is getting Drontal shortly. I can't bear
the thought of infested cats! I hope eliminating the worms makes them all
feel better and eat less.

ouch, good luck, Pat. Yup, I can't stand flea or wormed infested pets. Hope
everybody becomes clean soon.

The good news is that the treatment is very effective! But expensive.
Good luck.

Yeah, why are two simple pills so expensive?  You'd think with the
number that they likely sell, they'd come down in price. Just silly
the amount of money some pet drugs sell for, especially if you only
need one or two doses. LIke Depo shots - I know that steroids are
cheap (at least in pill form), why are the shots so much?  Like $20,
plus a vet visit fee.  Silliness.  I guess if they were readily
available, and we didn't have to visit the vet for them, vets would
go out of business for lack of profits, so I support them in that way
because we NEED them to be there.  But the price of drugs is just
outrageous.

I feel for you - Tessie had a tapeworm after she was spayed at the
animal shelter. Ick... fortunately the special tapeworm medicine took
care of it exactly as advertised - one tablet and no more
'passengers'... btw the instructions said that you ONLY have to give
it to the obviously infected cat/s... if they're not shedding eggs
they don't have a tapeworm. And if they do it's VERY obvious...

Cats don't catch a tapeworm by eating the eggs, icky as they are - it
takes an active flea infestation for the things to get to the next
stage of their lifecycle, and then the cat catches it by eating an
infected FLEA... we didn't have fleas in the house so there was no way
for them to perpetuate themselves once Tessie was medicated. I did go
around and THOROUGHLY clean the whole house and all the cats bedding
though, just on general principles.

I think these cats all have them because they shared the same fleas for a
while. So they're all getting the medicine. It's not just for tapes, it
kills a lot of other worms too (or so says TED). Seems like worming is a
good idea on general principles, too. And there won't be any more fleas in
here after the next treatment with Advantage. I'm quitting Frontline because
of what Matthew said, and also because two weeks after treatment, Baby Eyes'
flea-allergy-irritated skin isn't much better. Could the fleas might have
mutated and become resistant to Frontline? It's still years away from the
"use by" date.

Well I'm not in the habit of looking closely at feline anuses ;) this time
it happened by accident, when Eli happened to stroll across my chest and the
light hit just right on his backside.

At least doing them all I will be sure of knocking out most if not all of
whatever worms they might share.

Okay, but now I have an earworm.  Oh, well, if you have to channel
somebody, Dylan is a pretty good one.

Well, they'll stone ya when you're trying to be so good,
They'll stone ya just a-like they said they would.
They'll stone ya when you're tryin' to go home.
Then they'll stone ya when you're there all alone.
But I would not feel so all alone,
Everybody must get stoned.
