I received the latest magazine from Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and
it had a very interesting article.

Two men, Jeff Moran and Jack Steward, have created a cd called Purrfect
Symphony.  They added cats' purrs to music intended to soothe and
energize.  The article said they 'auditioned' a number of cats, getting
down on the floor with the felines to test their pitch, tone and
melody.  Some refused to purr while 2 in particular purred on demand.

Moran said he had to limit his editing time to an hour at a time - "any
longer and he would find himself falling asleep, hypnotized by the
dulcet purrs".

Stewart has worked as a psychotherapist and has pursued research in
alternative medicine.  Moran is also a psychotherapist, vocal analyst,
and a presenter of workshops on the use of sound of healing and
learning.

I haven't checked it out yet - you can listen to samples at
www.purrfectsymphony.org.  A percentage of sales will benefit Cats
Protection, a charity in the UK.

Purrs to all,

Hey! They stole my idea!!! :)

I've thought for years that a CD with cat purring would be the ultimate
in relaxing "environmental" sounds, right up there with ocean waves
and rain in the forest. <sigh> My own fault for not doing anything about
this idea - someone else had to think of it sooner or later.

Must have this CD, must have...
