Today DH and I visited a friend for lunch - going to her apartment for
the first time.  This meant that we were priveliged to meet her two
felines - Boris and Amy.

Boris is an enormous DLH orange stripey boy who is very shy and rather
dim.  He was asleep on the carpet near the front door when we arrived,
but as soon as he saw us he scooted off to hide in the bedroom.  Amy,
on the other hand, is a complete love and very social.  She took about
5 minutes to check us out from a distance and after that she was all
over us.  I never knew that it was possible for a cat to purr
continuously for so long - she didn't stop purring for the entire 4
hours that we were there.  When she wasn't in our arms or on our laps,
she was lolling about on the carpet asking for pettins.

Amy is Boris' littermate and is also DLH, but she is a striking
classic mackerel tabby.  She had an accident when very young and had
to have a hind leg amputated, but it has not slowed her down at all.
Both are indoors-only and both have their devoted person very well
trained - lots of toys, cat trees and absolutely spotless feed bowls
and litter tray (puts ours to shame).

Towards the end of our visit Boris finally re-appeared for long enough
to greet us briefly and then to snatch up the little white mousie we
bought and carry it back under the bed to play with.  Very cute.

We had a wonderful afternoon petting Amy, including her ample tummy of
long, curly fur (which she loves - no tummy traps there!).  DH enjoyed
having a temporary lap cat in the form of Amy.  Ted (RB) was his lap
cat and it is his on-going regret that neither of our current cats is
a lap cat.

A nice way to spend a Sunday!
