Now I just need to figure out where it goes (in the bedroom, somewhere) and how to convince DH.
Ack! Oscar is clawing at the back screen door! I've never seen her do that before. Bad Oscar!

I found a couple of really nice cat trees back when I was alley-picking, but they're so used to that furniture, it'd be nice to have a new climbing tree.

I would love to get her one of the trees they have that pushes against the ceiling, but I envision the next one going in the bedroom, and our bedroom has very high, angled ceilings.
Well, as I said, I need to convince DH first.

Although he did ask if it could come from my personal account, rather than the joint. Fair enough, actually. We do tend to pay everything out of the joint account, and it's not much good having fat personal accounts and a lean joint account.

Anyway, with all the money sunk into vet bills recently, the tower will have to wait. It's not like she'll miss it, since she didn't even know it was being planned.

Rusty hardly get toys or nice stuff any more since I have to save money for any potential big vet bills. This year we've been to the vet almost every month.

I don't know if I can even imagine how hard that must be for you. At least Rusty doesn't know that he doesn't have lots of toys. Oscar's favorite toy is still the Cat Dancer I bought for less than four dollars. She will leap and play with that thing until I can't do it anymore and have to put it down, and she'll be purring the whole while, even while she's pouncing and twirling.

Last night I picked up Rusty's Cat Dancer which has been lying on the floor ignored. He showed some interest and played with it a little bit. But nothing compared to when he used to leap and even play with it by himself. Sigh! No denying he has aged much since then.

They used to have some really funky cat trees in that catalog. How do you explain to your friends and family the one with the palm trees and a hammock? Or the one that looked like a castle, ramparts and all? LOL I see they don't carry those anymore. They really wouldn't fit in with anyone's decore unless you had a dedicated cat room.
Oscar will love that cat tree!

What's this explaining business? My friends already think whatever they're going to think of me. My parents already think I never grew up because, gasp, sometimes there's stuff on the floor or the dishes don't get washed right away. *rolls eyes*.
But frankly, having a cat tower that looks like a castle etc. doesn't really appeal to me ... I figure that all of that styling does nothing to increase a tower's appeal to a cat. That's just money spent on appealing to hoomins that could better be spent on more cat-friendly features.
> Oscar will love that cat tree! Only if I buy it! Like I said, need to discuss with DH and find a spot.

I totally agree, and that's probably why they don't sell them anymore. The cat couldn't care less what it looks like as long as it's climbable and comfy.

Of course, for this Kitty City, you have to have $500 to spare... LOL

LOL Wow, that really WOULD be 'furnishing for the cats'... our three seem to be generally content with the windowsills and the backs of the couch and the chairs and the dressers and anywhere else they can find to perch... Tessie's the only one who likes to sleep on the cat tree - she'll run up to the top tier and curl up there for a bit of peace and quiet...

Um ... there are large windows in the bedroom, but they have plantation (ie, very solid wooden) shutters, which aren't really designed to be opened all the way. And we'd have to rearrange the furniture in annoying ways to put anything there.
My current thought is to put it in the corner nearest my side of the bed, where it would fit nicely from a hoomin perspective.
Oscar has a nice window in the office and two windows (one a bay) in the dining room ... I don't really feel she's suffering in the view department =)
