Thank you - also it's Newfoundand's Memorial Day, which makes things a
little ambivalent - remembering one of the bloodiest battles of WWI and
celebrating the country we joined in 1949 on the same day - kind of odd.

At least it's stopped raining! I've been getting a bit fed up with having
to work on all the glorious sunny days and then having rain on all the
weekends and holidays! (OK, maybe not *every* weekend and holiday, but it
seems like it!)

I'll second that.  Happy Canada Day to all our Canadian friends.

Thanks Christine.

It turns out to be a beautiful sunny day in the nation's capital. I
went to a breakfast with the mayor. There were lots and lots of people
there.  Afterwards I went to a bookstore and
read  more than half of the book The Cat Who Drops A Bombshell.
Followed by a free concert at the National Arts Centre. There was a
huge children choir
with choirs from all over the country. It was a thrill to hear them
sing O Canada accompanied by the NAC orchestra, and joined by the
audience.
At the end of the concert, all the choir members pull out a Maple Leaf
and waved widely.
It was wonderful.

Happy Canada Day!

Happy Canada Day to all the Canadians. I was lucky enough to be in Canada on
this day seven years ago, staying with my Canadian cousins.

Have a great day, all of you.
