I would have called him Lord Byron or something like that. MLB

Blacky showed up at our door in February 1999. A big, black, shy cat as he then was it took us about 8 weeks to confirm him to come in and stay. He is with us since then.

I can't help but think it was his sweet, friendly, trusting nature that led him to a bad person who put him there. And thank Bast it was that same sweet nature that made him come to me, and not run away and hide, and get into more danger, when I went after him.

He has been with me through some of the toughest times of my life, and as weird as it may sound, he is my role model. I only wish I could be as gracious, as forgiving, as patient, as cheerful, as friendly, as trusting, as relaxed, as open to the world (with the exception of one rather rambunctious little boycat!), as funny, as just darn good-natured and loving as this cat. A friend of mine once said that he "glows with amiability." He is a treasure.

This same friend had a cat who was terrified of everyone - he was a feral who was just barely tamed - but he loved that dog. We used to call her the Dalai Lama of Dogs.
Perhaps Stinky has a similar Buddha Nature?
Happy 15th!!

But last week, my mom was poised to eat a really nice, juicy, perfectly grilled piece of chicken breast, and Stinky just leaped up to the table, snapped up the chicken and was outta there in a flash. My mom was indignant, and I almost fell off my chair laughing (probably because it wasn't my chicken ;)).

No, that's so funny, your reaction would probably have been the same even if it was your chicken. You might have had to pretend to be indignant, out of principle, but on the inside, you would have been ROFL. That was probably the case with your mom. :)

Doesn't mean he can't be a Dalai Lama of Cats, though. The real Dalai Lama, while perhaps not "bad", is, from what I hear, a very silly person, given to giggling and making silly jokes. I'm sure that's quite good for the soul, too!
