sriddles@aol.com - 29 Jun 2006 05:33 GMT Here are Dexter and Orion with their new toy, a fish pond.
Their Meowmie and Paw spent one entire weekend researching "do it yourself" water gardens, the next weekend hauling rock, and the next weekend actually building the thing.
And it was built solely and strictly for the cats' entertainment. Since Dexter and O are indoor cats, now Meowmie and Paw have to sit outdoors in the evening while "the boys" watch the fish. They're both Maine Coons, and have a real thing about water. It's hard to tell from pic because they have their summer hair cut.
Is that spoiled or what??

It's my daughter's and her cats. But thank you! I'll pass on the compliment. As much as I love my cats, I won't be building them a fish pond. That looked like an *awful* lot of work, and I'm not sure how much maintenance is involved. They live in the suburbs of a large city though, and it does give off a sort of tranquility and a close-to-nature ambiance. I bet that's pretty nice on a late summer evening after a hectic day. It just really amused me that she and her DP did it *for the cats*. He worked like a trojan, on a project for her CATS. I told her he's definitely a keeper.

Dennis and I spent *days* building each of our cat trees for Vino. Doesn't seem too smart to put that much money and effort into building something that ends up making our house look worse and more cluttered, but somehow when it comes to our precious prince, we don't look at it that way :-)

It is, but I think that's only fair, since I can get out of here any time, but they have to spend 24/7 in here (and in the enclosure, but they only have access to that when I'm home).

I wouldn't even want to count the hours we spent on cat trees. Now they look so ratty. Non cat people think we are nuts I'm sure.

Now he's conveniently forgotten all of that and remembers it as a great purchase that "we" made. LOL!

Martinez (They are my daughter's cats). Yes, Dexter and O have never in their whole live been outside alone. They used to have an enclosure but not anymore since they moved. They're remarkably good about it though. They never try to further than the immediate area. Not like my cats, who sneak away and hide from me, and other b*stard cat tricks.

I thought maybe somebody Dexter is going to get too excited and fall in :-)
