From Best Friends:
Act of kindness from Salina, Kansas to Denver needed for soldier's cat...
We need Network members to commit an act of kindness for an ailing man, who
desperately needs a ride for himself and the cat he inherited from a noble
solider who died in Iraq.
Skunk the cat and his friend Phillip are moving from Salina, Kansas, to
Durango, Colorado. The second half of the trip from Denver to Durango is
covered. But Skunk and Phillip can't get going until we find drivers from
Salina to Denver.
Skunk was the beloved pet of a young soldier, Greg Larson, who was killed in
Iraq on his second tour of active duty in the war overseas. Phillip Spots
offered to take in Skunk while Greg was overseas and has now adopted him in
Greg's memory.
Phillip has advancing Parkinson's disease. He and Skunk are moving in with
Phillip's 86-year-old mother in Durango. Phillip was going to be traveling
by bus but he was told, "Absolutely No Cats." He had already given up his
apartment and was in a motel when he got the bad news from the bus company.
"It never occurred to me they wouldn't let Skunk travel in a carrier."
Now, all we need is people who get Phillip and Skunk from Salina to Denver.
They've been through so much together that we can't bear for them to travel
separately.
What a great way to celebrate Best Friends Day and Best Friends Weekend!
Can you help?
If you can give Skunk and Phillip a lift all or part way from Salinas to
Durango, please contact Best Friends.
