Scoopaway formula changed?

Thread rating: |
Monique Y. Mudama - 25 Jun 2006 17:16 GMT I buy 38 lb buckets of ScoopAway unscented litter. Today I opened a new bucket, and the litter seems to be a darker grey than I remember.
Not a big deal, and Oscar has already, er, stamped the new litter with her approval, but I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this?

I don't know. I buy the el-cheapo stuff (Kittie Diggins) and it's just as scoopable and clumps up nicely. Wouldn't surprise me if they changed the formula, though. They do that sort of thing all the time. Just like when you decide you like a particular thing at the grocery store or a particular type of lipstick and suddenly you can't find it anymore. Bites, doesn't it? Such is life.

Yeah -- I wish they'd just leave well enough alone. Every time I go to buy deoderant, they all look completely different and whatever scent I decided I liked is no longer available.

Everything I decide I like is suddenly no longer available. Dammit, folks, just stop messing with what is already a good thing!
For example, why does dishwashing liquid have to come in Green Apple and Ruby Red Grapefruit? What, Lemon (weird enough) wasn't good enough for you? What's next, Guava or Papaya? Sheesh and geezlepeets! We aren't drinking it, we're washing dishes! So what's with all the fruit stuff?
And by the way, the cats are just taking a dump and peeing. No need to make the scoopable litter any more exotic :)
Persia is in the closet but she's not sleeping, she just likes it in the dark. I can see these pretty green eyes staring out at me. Awww, how cute!

Monique Y. Mudama - 25 Jun 2006 19:00 GMT > And by the way, the cats are just taking a dump and peeing. No need > to make the scoopable litter any more exotic :) Yeah. I really disliked FreshStep's scent, which is why I went with the unscented ScoopAway. I don't know what the theory is, but in practice Oscar would come up to cuddle and smell like FreshStep, which was just "Too Much Information." No thanks. I'd rather not know.

I've been trying to meditate for just a few minutes at a time. I wanted the windows open for the fresh air and the birds chirping. Naturally that meant that I had to listen to a cat batting at the wooden shades. Oscar, I just want to meditate for five minutes. FIVE FREAKING MINUTES!

My pet peeve is the way walking shoes seem to go "out of style" the instant I find a pair that are comfortable and really fit. By the time I know they are "just right," the manufacturer has changed them!

I love products from The Body Shop, but when I use up what I have and shop for more, it seems like they have a completely different set of stuff.

I use this deodorant called Orjene citrus, and have been using it for about 12 years. I used to buy it at a health food store, but then they stopped carrying it, so I found Orjene's site on the web and have been ordering it online ever since.
But recently, I found an old swimming bag, which contained not just stuff like goggles and earplugs, but also soap, hairbrush, and deodorant, etc., for showering afterwards. The deodorant was also Orjene citrus, but a much older stick of it, and it smelled very different - much better! It was far more citrus-y smelling, and much less sort of flowery or whatever. I guess they changed it slowly enough that I didn't notice the difference incrementally, but when comparing two samples from very different times, I can really smell the difference. The current stuff isn't bad, but it's nowhere near as nice as the original. Why did they have to fiddle with it?? Maybe I should write them a letter.

Singh - 26 Jun 2006 17:20 GMT Or maybe the deordorant had changed in the bag. How old was the stick? It may be that some of the natural oils had dissipated, or the components of the stick may have shrunk up a bit. Either way it would have left a more concentratred aroma maybe.

> Maybe it improves with age =P No, the old smell came back to me, as soon as I found the old stick. I had been wondering why I didn't like it as much as I used to - now I know.

Rusty also tracked it all over. Now I am back to using Maxx Scoop. Rusty even looks like the cat in the commercial. Another poster in this group mentioned a brand in WalMart, Fresh smothing. But the local WalMart doesn't have it.

Singh - 26 Jun 2006 04:09 GMT How spoiled are our cats? Their favorite litter is a combination of 1 part Swheat Scoop to 2 parts Arm & Hammer clumping stuff. I have no idea why. they like sto see us make an effort, I guess!

Winnie
Singh - 26 Jun 2006 17:20 GMT Seems that the mix improves on the litter-box bouquet, and makes for less dust.
The cats come to inspect the mixing, as if waiting to leave their, um, stamp of approval. Or maybe a trophy?

A friend and I used to discuss opening a "product testing" company - so many things we liked seemed to be promptly discontinued that we thought maybe we could make money from renting out our skills. ("If Evelyn and Jackie like it, you can be sure it won't sell.")
Singh - 26 Jun 2006 04:09 GMT I can see such a thing working: there is a place called 3 Custom Color Specialists which reproduces discontinued lipsticks, or makes new ones based on color combinations from different tubes. The price is obscene. If you can come up with replications of favorite discontinued products, you'd have a gold mine in your living room.

I got a fireplace popcorn popper from there (and a few to give as gifts). Another fun catalog is Lehman's. The Non-electric catalog. http://www.lehmans.com Check out the wood stoves! Wow! My great aunt had one and she made the most fantastic pies. How the heck do you know when the wood is right? She just held her hand over the wood and *knew*. Then she cooled them in the windowsill.

If you ever go on trips with the furrkids and need to cook on a grill, that stuff will hold up against just about anything. Cleans up slick as a whistle. It's cheap, too. I think I paid about $15 for different sized pans. And who's mom or grandma didn't have one of those black speckled with white oval turkey roasting pans? LOL
My mom loves the maple leaf shaped syrup candy from The Vermont Country store. I need to send her another bag of it :) Hey, my parents will have been married for FIFTY FIVE YEARS on July 2nd. Wowsa! Maybe I should send her a kitten! LOL Just kidding. She and Dad don't like cats. Too bad for them, eh?

I already have a few pieces of the blue spatterware, simply because I remember my grandmother using it. And I always buy some maple syrup for friends when I go to Ohio. Vermonters won't find it acceptable, but I specifically buy maple syrup processed in a specific area of northeast Ohio because I grew up there and can still remember the sap buckets that "festooned" some of the trees.

May the Vermonters forgive me too, because I try to buy New York maple syrup when I can. Louie thinks it's superior to Vermont's; he says the only three good regions for syrup are Vermont, New York and Quebec. Vermont has some great cheddar though!

Singh - 26 Jun 2006 17:20 GMT Oy! I love the Vermont Country Store! I find such bizarre stuff in there that I'd never have thought I'd see again. They have the rights to Oh! de London, and I plan on ordering; I remember buying that cologne when I was a kid, shortly before it was discontinued, or maybe after and the bottle had been lying around a bit. I loved it anyway. And when I can't decide, I can never go wrong with the Tangee Natural lipstick.

I was in Las Vegas with my parents and a friend *years* ago (late1960s). We were staying at Caesar's Palace at a time when it was one of *the* places to go. My father went up to the room for something and was in the elevator with another tourist (or so he thought)...a woman with a camera around her neck. They had a pleasant, casual conversation. That evening, we went to the dinner show -- and he had been visiting with Petula Clark!!
Back to cat stuff (just to keep this legit): I had some friends over yesterday, and they absolutely *insisted* that Duffy *must* be able to see because "how else could he climb to all those places without breaking anything." He really is a delightful little guy.
