Poor Dulce Mae was nearly the victim of a catnapping. She was sunning
on the concrete in the building's quad area, when one of the other
residents came out and started sweet talking her. After a few minutes,
she reached down to pet Dulce Mae, who was having none of it. In fact,
Dulce Mae started walking towards our door.

The lady decided to try and pick up Dulce Mae, who slipped the grip of
the evil resident, and ran the rest of the way to our door.

I had been watching all this, and I know that the lady in question was
just trying to love on our sweet princess, but when I let Dulce Mae
in, she gave me full-length cat's-eye view of what really happened.
And Dulce Mae isn't even a Siamese (grin). She did glare at the lady,
from the safety of the living room window...

===

Poor Little Boy. He had to take a nap under the "abandoned cat bush"
next to our building (this bush seems to be a popular napping place
for all the ferals, from time to time).

As I was bringing in the groceries, Little Boy zoomed out to help me,
even jumping into the trunk at one point. But the evil ice-cream
vendors came by with their push carts and scary ringy-bells, and he
ran away, around the back of the building.

Well, I have figured out his favorite place to sun, when he runs out,
and finished unloading the groceries. Then I went to the stairwell
next to our apartment, and called for him.

But he wasn't there! I saw a vague grey lump under the abandoned cat
bush, and on a whim, called his name. He looked up, saw it was me,
came running and meowed to be picked up and brought inside.

===

In the meantime, Gramndma Wiggleworm shows at the door, wanting food.
I open the door, pick her up and introduce her to Senyah. Young Mrs.
Wiggleworm sees Dulce Mae and hisses, then cuddles into me, as I walk
quickly to the door.

I bring her food, and all is well again.

===

In the mornings, I feed what ferals come to my door.

This usually means Mrs. Wiggleworm at the back door, sometimes Acqui
(who owns a slave in this building), Spot (who also owns a slave
here), and sometimes a pretty black kitty who seems to have moved on.

Also at the front door is mama kitty (Mrs. Wiggleworm's daughter) and
her kittens, and sometimes Acqui.

The kittens are very skittish with that "I'M ON DRUGS! I'M A BOUNCY
BOUNCY KITTEN!" way about them, and are very shy of people. But I'm
wearing away at that (evil grin).

For the last week, the kittens have been letting me get within
head-skritching distance, and the grey one has lett me pick him up and
cuddle him.

===

This morning, I betrayed Little Boy. He was on top the big plastic ice
chest where he can stretch out. Little Feet was on top the smaller cat
food box, where he can stretch out his smaller frame.

I picked up Little Boy, to love on him, at which point Little Feet
investigated the empty ice chest, curled up into a small ball and went
to sleep.

Little boy sniffed at Little Feet, shook a paw off at him, and tried
to stretch out on top the cat food box. Can you say extreme hang-over?

===

After I finished with the groceries, Little Boy jumped up on my lap
and stretched out across my chest, where he and I enjoyed a mutual
love session. After about fifteen minutes, little Feet jumped up on
the end table by the couch, and Litle Boy streeeetched out and into my
chest, telling Little Feet that I was HIS person right now, and that
he wasn't going to share.

After all, I was telling Little Boy that he was the very bestest and
only Smiley Bear in the world (grin).

[Little Feet is the very bestest tiger kitty, Dulce Mae is the very
bestest princess kitty and Buster is the very bestest bunny-rabbit
kitty (don't ask me why - he just seems to like the nickname), so
everybody gets to be special.]

Hugs and Purrs,
Mark

Aww, that's so sweet, Mark. Maybe I should change my tack with Caliban.
I keep telling him he's my next favouritest catboy in the world when he
cuddles up to me, but maybe he could be my favouritest tigerboy. And Mir
could be my favouritest spacecat in the world, instead of my next
favouritest girlcat.

That approach seems to work for us. Cleopatra is the most beautiful silver
kitty I've ever seen, Amelia the most beautiful tortie girl, Sammy the
handsomest red boycat, Tabitha the most beautiful fluffy black girl, Harri
the most beautiful orange girlcat, and Ranger the handsomest grey boycat
I've ever seen. They all seem to revel in hearing that :)

One of the things I love about cats (and dogs) is they really don't give a
darn what you call them, as long as you do it with affection.  It isn't
possible to hurt their feelings by accident.
