The handsome stranger

has been back on several occasions. This evening there was a clowder in my
garden. Francis, Marble, Kit Kat (from next door) and the handsome stranger.
Waffles was most put out by the fact *her* garden is being overrun by
boycats....

Anyhow, the handsome stranger is now sporting a collar (blue, as befits his
male status) and in the ID tag is written "He's a lovely cat. Please have
him neutered so he doesn't wander and get into fights. Ta."

I wonder what sort of response this gets - if any.

Claire, my neighbour (Kit Kat's mum) has said that if the handsome stranger
keeps coming round, she'll take him to the vet for 'fixing'....

Cheers, helen s

Good for you and good for your neigbour!

Earlier this year, we had an even known as Spay Day USA (sponsored by the
Doris Day Foundation), where we were offering spay/neuter vouchers for $5US.
One of the applicants was a lady that worked in the recycle center (it's
located in the same 'city complex' as the local shelter, and our Humane
offices), she said she was tired of her neighbor just blatantly ignoring all
the stray that took up residence (and bred rampantly) in his old barn.  She
(and her husband, since we were only allowed to issue 10 vouchers per
person) were kidnapping the kitties and getting them all fixed.  I called
one of the Humane managers and asked if we could offer extra help - she said
that we could give them 5 extra vouchers per person, since these were
'ferals' that she was fixing.  Do that made a total of 30 barn cats fixed!

Did you leave your phone number? I'd be really curious to know if his
people contact you. I suppose they could leave you a message on the
collar. Messenger kitty!

Hope he gets neutered soon!!

Poor Waffles. If Frank were still around, he would not stand for it. He
would probably invite her to stay at the island with him, though she
would have to contend with a few strange cats there, as well.

Purrs that the stranger's 'owners' see sense and do it themselves (not
the fixing, the taking him to a vet).
