Last week, I had a minor accident driving to work. A kid behind me
tried to change lanes before our lane started moving, and he clipped
my bumper as he tried to go to the left lane. (still makes me chuckle
that he asked to borrow my cell phone to call his mom after he gave
me his info). The damage was much worse that I first anticipated,
because the tailgate of my Canyon wouldn't open due to the bumper
being pushed up, so it had to go into the collision shop for repairs.
They gave me a Ford F150 as a loaner (MY NEXT TRUCK ... I SWEAR I
LOVED DRIVING THAT BIG TRUCK!!!)

I got my Canyon back today and discovered that they fixed something
that they noticed while inspecting it. It wasn't caused by the
accident, and would have been covered by the warranty, but they fixed
it anyway.  The adjuster had gone home for the day when I picked up
my truck, but I will be sure to call her Monday.  What a nice thing
they did!  :)

Very nice!  And it sounds like a pretty nice loaner, too.

My local garage does things like that too - fixing a washer fluid
reservoir leak when I had them fix the brakes, replacing fuses when I
had them replace the battery, etc.  I like that not because of the
freebies - I wouldn't mind if they charged me - but because it shows
that they're a good garage with people who have sharp eyes and
professional pride.

I have to admit it scared me a little when I opened your post and it
was about an auto accident.  I was just thinking about your loss,
although maybe it's not as recent anymore as it feels.
